MaryZ Posted September 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2007 We used ours. It is slow, so don't expect miracles ;) We had an aft wrap, and found it worked better in the sitting room than in the bedroom. They also have a direct connection you can use. We didn't use that, since all we did was check in with our kids at night thru an im program.
*Mach* Posted September 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2007 We will be on an upcoming Miracle cruise and DH has to spend a few hours on his computer for work. Will he be able to use his laptop in the room? All the ships are pretty much the same. Wifi is available on board, though not necessarily in every cabin. There is a one time set up fee of $3.95 and internet access is $.75/min. You can purchase a block of 100 minutes for $55 or a block of 250 for $100. If you husband can connect, log off, do some work and reconnect to upload the information you could save a few bucks. Also, consider using the connection either early in the morning or very late in the evening. The fewer users sharing the satellite connection the faster the speed. Hope this helps. Wennfred Posted September 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2007 The Spirit upgraded their WIFI signal throughout the ship by installing antennas in the passageways, by now you should be able to get signal from your cabin. Fred
Grits53 Posted September 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I had this question about the Glory, and this is part of the response I got from Carnival a few days ago: The following ships have bow to stern wireless internet access, including all lounges, pool decks and staterooms: Carnival Valor Carnival Liberty Carnival Freedom
2 rednecks Posted September 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2007 Got off miracle on Sunday, we were in room 8125 wifi worked but barely in the room but if we were out on the balcony it worked pretty well. also used on of the computers in the liabrary on 2 occasions one time it was much faster then the laptop from the room the other time it was much slower. If you choose to do the pay as you go .75 a min your account will be disabled on the last night approx 10:00pm if you have a plan it will not be disabled and you could use it right untill you get off
Sandi149 Posted September 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2007 The connection is very very slow. I sent a 2 line email and it took a good 5 minutes to u/l it. Seemed like less than a 56K and I am used to a T1. I would say it's ok for quick stuff but that's about it.
Sureshot26 Posted September 21, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 21, 2007 We sailed the Miracle in 2006, and a nice place to use a laptop is Gatsby's Garden - it's quiet and the wireless signal's pretty decent. I wouldn't plan on getting a lot done, though - if he expects to be wading through email attachments and the like, he's going to wish he'd brought a magazine to read while he's waiting!
