JessH Posted September 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I hear so much about this warm melting chocolate cake, Im beginning to wonder if Carnival has cheesecake??? :D
piggs Posted September 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2007 Yes, but the best one is in the specialty cafe where you pay for it. It is DELICIOUS! I think it was 2.50 for a slice, good size one at that.
SATXLady Posted September 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I think they had at least one or two varieties of cheesecake in the Lido every day. But I don't even remember if it was on the dinner menu at all because I had the warm chocolate melting cake every night.
motherofthree Posted September 20, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I Had The Cheescake On The Miracle And It Was Delicious. After 3 Nights Of Warm Melting I Needed A Break. Also Had The Cappachino Ice Cream Pie. I Am Not A Sweet Eater, But Had To Have One Everynight And All Of Them Were Great. Lesley
qprrules Posted September 20, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I had cheesecake at least once in the dining room and it was very good. However, what cheescake isn't good!
bakechef Posted September 20, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2007 As much as I loved the food on my recent Glory cruise, the cheesecake offered was dismal. The ones on the Lido were like eating a foam sponge, weird texture and no flavor. The cheesecake in the dining room was marginally better, but still pretty disappointing. My friend said that the cheesecake dessert in the supper club was good, but not what he really considered cheesecake. For the record I enjoy New York style cheesecake, thick, fairly dense and pleasantly sweet, in my opinion a good cheesecake can stand alone without any fruity toppings. We have a restaurant here in Raleigh NC that serves Carnegie Deli cheesecake that they have shipped from NY, it is awesome. MAC

Grits53 Posted September 20, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I'm a big cheesecake fan, and I have to say that the ones served in the dining room are just average...neither good nor bad. But the ones you can buy at the onboard coffee shop are the BEST I have ever tasted. You get a HUGE slice for $2.50....big enough to share, if you can stand to part with some of it. It's a good thing they don't keep those strawberry cheesecakes out all the time, because I could eat my weight in them..... Between those and the frozen yogurt on the Lido deck...... Oh my!! There goes the diet! As someone else mentioned, that cappuchino pie is also fabulous. The chocolate melting cake is OK, but I don't like it as well as most people here do. Then again, I am not a chocolate fan. I love the creme brulee'. (Pardon my spelling!)
victory2020 Posted September 20, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2007 The cheesescake they offer is definatley different from any I've ever had. I believe they use gelatin in it so it's very airy. I would liken it to something at a cheap buffet place.
turkeytoes75 Posted September 20, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I'm picky with my cheesecake, and didn't care for it on the ship!!
SilverDewdrops Posted September 20, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I agree the Cheese Cake from the specialty cafe is the best. It's a huge slice and well worth it. He's usually one to clean his plate, but the slice is so big I have to help him.:D My husband loves it (and the black forest cake).
bakechef Posted September 20, 2007 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2007 I wish that I had tried the one in the cafe. I really liked the melting cake. The bitter and blanc made it back on the menu when we sailed, it was fantastic!!!!!!!!!! MAC
RizzoLee Posted September 21, 2007 #13 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I love the bitter and blanc! Haven't seen that in a bit! And melting cake too! Cheesecake on board is hit and miss... I've had fantastic cheesecake for dessert in the dining room, and others that tasted like it was just tasteless jello (it even wiggled). The worst ever was the Elation in 2005-it did not have a cheesecake texture at all. I've always denied myself the desserts you have to pay for, but maybe I'll indulge this time. :)

Rowan555 Posted September 21, 2007 #15 Share Posted September 21, 2007 Also try ordering the "dessert of the day" from room service - for some reason on our cruise last week, each day this was the same cheesecake, and it was DELICIOUS. Not at all like the dry stuff on the Lido Deck. It was served in a small square ( hint - order TWO ) with a graham cracker crust, a dab of whipped cream, and a little cup of strawberry sauce. We ordered a few each night with our BLTs and bean wraps, and it truthfully was better than most of the other desserts we had throughout the cruise (with the exception of the warm chocolate melting cake, of course). In the past, the room service dessert of the day was leftover dessert from the lido deck - we were very pleasantly surprised with the yummy cheesecake. vacruizer Posted September 21, 2007 #16 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I thought the cheesecake was just ok but didn't try it at the specialty shop. I am spoiled forever with cheesecake because my DH bakes the best homemade cheesecakes ever.:D
trarecar Posted September 21, 2007 #17 Share Posted September 21, 2007 I didn't like the room service cheesecake at all. So much so that I didn't even bother to try it in the dining room. The bread pudding is awesome. My husband raved over the Grand Marnier souflle and the Creme Brulee. They were both too eggy for my tastes, but that's just me. The tiramasu was good, but not the best I've ever had.
shipty2 Posted September 21, 2007 #18 Share Posted September 21, 2007 BTW the cheesecake served in the dining room has no crust. Just cheese. Well a sort of whip n' chill version of cheesecake.
