Sandi149 Posted March 11, 2008 Author #1252 Share Posted March 11, 2008 We are leaving on Monday June 2 and back on Tuesday June 10. You are taking the same cruise almost to the exact date that I did. Mine was June 4th. Also a Monday. I remember that day it was raining and it took us over an hour to get to the terminal in the cab. The ride should have been 20-30 minutes. I still say, fly into Newark. The traffic will be less because you don't have to go cross town.
MonaCK Posted March 11, 2008 #1253 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Right - but you might run into traffic at either the bridge or the tunnels.
Sandi149 Posted March 11, 2008 Author #1254 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Right - but you might run into traffic at either the bridge or the tunnels. It's all going to be bad. But going crosstown is always a nightmare and there will be tunnels/bridge involved with coming from LGA too. Either the Midtown tunnel or the 59th st bridge. AVShockey Posted March 11, 2008 #1255 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks for the link to the roll call I checked the boards the other day and I couldn't find it. I will sign up. See you on board!!
KTeaRN Posted March 11, 2008 #1256 Share Posted March 11, 2008 runcassrun_07 - join our roll call!! June 2, 2008 Roll Call I have my own question regarding traffic. I also am on runcassrun's sailing, but am driving from Plymouth, MA. Does anyone have any advice on which route to take/avoid, and also what time I should leave? I was figuring a 4-4.5hr trip, now I'm rethinking.

yeahbaby Posted March 11, 2008 #1258 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Last year when i flew outta newark they said check in 1 hour before domestic, 2 hours before international.. check w/ them. they will bump you off the flight.if you don't check in on time.(if they can sell your seat) just leave yourself plenty of time for traffic,, the ship can pull into port late. what if we get delayed a day because of a storm? that happened to my friends. can you spend a night in NYC and catch a flight the next afternoon? Most airlines are 2 hours domestic and 3 hours international out of Newark. If you are flying Continental their website lists the processsing time based on the day of the week and flight times. MonaCK Posted March 12, 2008 #1262 Share Posted March 12, 2008 woo! I've been upgraded again - this time to a category 8I -- though I am not sure of the cabin yet. Anyone ever been in one of these extended balcony cabins? This is our first balcony. I told my mom that she's going to end up spoiling us. ;)

It's so nice to have it. It makes the cabin feel like there's a second room. :D

After trying the extended balcony I want it on other cruises if possible.
MonaCK Posted March 12, 2008 #1265 Share Posted March 12, 2008 We've gotten really lucky on this cruise - because we are going as part of a really large group, and my mom is the travel agent (she owns the agency) and I'll be helping her with this really large group, we are going on this sailing for free. We already knew that we were going to be put in balconies, but the fact that they upgraded us like this is just amazing. The only expenses we will have will be gratuities and anything shipboard that we end up charging to the room. I am doubtful that we are even going to go on any excursions. I am both excited and dreading going -- dreading because I am worried I am going to get hooked on balconies, and that is going to end up costing us more sheckels in the long run as we continue to cruise. ;)

MonaCK Posted March 12, 2008 #1272 Share Posted March 12, 2008 It's a bit before my time too, but I love the music. I'm a bit of an old soul - my hobby is singing barbershop (I sing with a championship chorus that meets out in Baldwin), so I love the tight harmonies of that era. not sure of the cabin number. Mom got it, and then promptly forgot it. ;)
