Dialemic Posted September 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Pick your one most memorable monet on an RCCL ship. Whether its your first cruise in general or a special moment. Mine would have to be snorkerling in the Caymans. It cost me 5$ to rent a snorkel and some goggles. It was cheap and the aquatic life was so amazing. To me, you dont have to spend alot on a cruise to find the best deal and a great time.
ckrobyn Posted September 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2007 For me.....seeing the ship for the first time as the taxi pulled into the Port area :D I had no concept of just how enormous a cruise ship is until that very moment...... jst4fun715 Posted September 25, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Most memorable moment for me was just before we went on our first cruise. We were to leave out of Fort Lauderdale and had stayed the night before at the Marriot. Waking up in the morning and seeing the ships in (knowing one was ours) was soo exciting. Then to actually get there and see her was absolutely amazing. When we first stepped on board I couldn't believe the luxury...what a feeling! One of my other favorites was the swimming with the stingrays in the Caymans. It wasn't a RCI ship, but doesn't matter....great excursion.:D
Sue L Posted September 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2007 for me was this summer 13 th cruise but first time landing on a glacier and on the way back we saw the ships from the air.
wrp96 Posted September 25, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2007 You mean other than the time I fell face first down a flight of stairs or the time I fell face first into the rocks at Dunn's River Falls or...:p ;) :D I'd say one of my most memorable moments came from my Brilliance Panama cruise and the approach to the Panama Canal with the sun just beginning to rise. It was absolutely amazing.
Kevin's girl Posted September 25, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Our ship the Tahitian Princess coming into Huahini. It ws very early in the morning, and there was a little mist down low, the greens were greener than believable, and it was huge. The water (being inside the reef) was more calm tham lake water. It was so sureal, and beautiful. We did Tahiti and Cook Islands for our 25th. SUZCRUZ Posted September 25, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Sailing out of the Port of Tampa, with Dolphins swimming just ahead of us. We were all the way forward, hardly any wind and it was late afternoon.
CruisinMommas Posted September 25, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Oh my, this is difficult to answer each cruise has many great moments it is hard to choose. I too will go with the Panama Canal. Standing alone on deck and then watching the deck fill with other passengers waiting for the ship to take it turn to go thru the canal was amazing. The absolute thrill was able to do something I had read about along with my students in the classroom just a few years before.
FreewayFortune Posted September 25, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Yes the approach to the Panama Canal was amazing. But Alaska still takes first prize for me. Getting up close and personal with the Hubbard Glacier was absolutely amazing and then there was crossing into Frasier BC on the White Pass with the friendliest Canadian customs officials ever. Or the whales in Juneau. See too many great moments:) :)
Omishjoe Posted September 25, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Watching the look on my 7 month old sons face as we docked in the morning in Nassau from our aft corner on Voyager in 2004. Held him in my lap with a warm fuzzy blanket, and he was mesmerized. (so was I) He takes his third (with his new little brother) in a couple of months on Liberty. Watch out H2O Zone!! here we come!! I have to agree with you. I will never forget going across the causeway in Miami and seeing the Majesty and thought WOW look how big. Then again shortly there after seeing the Navigator for the first time....SWEET !!! I was shocked how much bigger she was.
sanditoes4 Posted September 25, 2007 #13 Share Posted September 25, 2007 I have to vote this, I know what a terrible person, but the day we boarded on my first girl's cruise was by far one of the best days of my adult life. Boarding without hyper kids, walking around without a whiny DH, seeing as many shows as I wanted.....sitting were I wanted all day long....you get my point. After 13 years of marriage, 11 of those staying home to raise kids, I deserved a big break and I gave it to myself, and I am doing it again this year too!!!! I love my kids and Hubby strongly and truely, but a girl just needs a break every now and then!!!:)
It'sRC4ME Posted September 25, 2007 #14 Share Posted September 25, 2007 My most memorable moment occurred in the dining room on the first night of my first ever cruise. I had been diffident about cruising, but was very impressed with the ship (Voyager of the Seas), but I didn't get really excited until I saw a PIRATE coming around the dining room ! And they were taking pictures of people with the pirate! You would have thought I was 5 years old (I was 28) I was so excited. It was totally ridiculous, but I still remember the rush of excitement when I saw that pirate!
sports4fun Posted September 25, 2007 #15 Share Posted September 25, 2007 We were on a cruise last year and as soon as the casino opened up my husband and I went in to gamble a little. My husband played the slots and I like Let It Ride. After approximately twenty minutes my husband won $1500.00. We were so excited. There was an older oriental man next to him and I think he was more excited than us. He kept hugging my husband and saying congratulations in broken English. :)
sports4fun Posted September 25, 2007 #16 Share Posted September 25, 2007 We were on a cruise with my DS and BIL. One day we split up and they rented mopeds. A few hours later she leaves a message in my room that she fell and got 6 stitches in her chin. I thought she was kidding until we went up to her room and sure enough she did. She came back to the ship to have the ship doctor fix her up. It cost $450.00 just for the doctor to see her. Luckily she got fully reimbursed by her insurance. karena1 Posted September 25, 2007 #17 Share Posted September 25, 2007 They are all so memorable in so many ways - but our very first on the Monarch (thought it was HUGE at the time) will also hold a special place for us. We were married for 13 years before we could afford to take a vacation together, alone. Never got a honeymoon, so this was really a long overdue honeymoon for us. I was a wonderful week of just the 2 of us, enjoying our first Southern Caribbean cruise. We got hooked on cruising and still love the Southern Caribbean the best. FrancescaH Posted September 25, 2007 #18 Share Posted September 25, 2007 For me it would be on our second cruise which was our first and only on the Voyager of the Seas. It was a western itinerary out of Miami and we were on the week before Christmas for my birthday. On the day of my birthday we stopped in Costa Maya and it was a dreary drizzly day. We sat on our balcony (a birthday splurge that has turned into a requirement to sailing!) as we came into port then shortly thereafter left our cabin to go do some shopping in port. As we were leaving our cabin we ran into our room attendant and he wished us a good day and I replied that even with the weather it would be a good day since it was my birthday. Later that night while we were in the theater waiting for a show my DH went back to the cabin to get something and caught our attendant decorating our cabin. My DH of course said not a word so it was a surprise when we went back to the cabin later that night. The attendant even got us champagne and strawberries... when DH ran into him earlier and mentioned he had already ordered champagne for me the attendant told him to cancel it since he wanted to do it for us. Unfortunately for the rest of our cabin attendants we've had since then, they can never live up to how sweet that one had been. He got a huge tip. It was that same cruise that we went and watched the house band every night in the lounge and they'd actually comment if we missed a session. When they heard it was my birthday they sang 'Happy Birthday' to me in the middle of their show. Overall it was a magical cruise! :D

soulpony Posted September 25, 2007 #20 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Snorkeling off Cozumel in '04 {GOS] I had swam quite far from the shore. The water was deep and I floating quietly then felt a pressure to my right so I turned my head and discovered a 4 foot barracuda near enough to touch. Slowly I lifted my camera and started shooting madly as it leisurely swam away. The buzz kept me going for hours after that and I had pictures to prove my tale. soulpony

crsrock Posted September 25, 2007 #23 Share Posted September 25, 2007 On my first cruise in 1977, I went with my parents. I was in the Navy, but had never been on a ship (women were not allowed on naval vessels back then.). Well, one night at dinner, the strolling musicians were in the dining room, entertaining with their lovely music. As they approached our table, the music stopped. Out of the kitchen came the waiter carrying a cake in the shape of an ANCHOR and it was decorated "Happy Sailing, Christine", and the musician trio started playing and singing "Anchors Aweigh". What a surprise and shock. A very special time for me from my wonderful parents.
Cdn Trekkie Posted September 25, 2007 #24 Share Posted September 25, 2007 I have to say that my most favorable moment starts just shortly after we've booked a cruise. I'm so excited and eager to actually get on the ship that even the longest time I had to wait (1yr & 3 months) wasn't too long for me to loose steam or excitement. It's all about the anticipation you get just knowing what is going to take place. It's like Disneyland for children. The size of the ship when you first see it in person and being awestruck. The attention to detail on every floor and the large amount of people all feeling the same way you do. I Love it!:o
fungirl76 Posted September 25, 2007 #25 Share Posted September 25, 2007 My favorite moment was taking my bf on his first cruise and seeing his face as we pulled up to the ship. We're now engaged and getting married in March while sailing on Explorer..
