Rare Keith1010 Posted August 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2004 You could do a cruise out of San Juan to see some of the Soutern Caribbean ports such as Barbados, Aruba, etc. Another option is a cruise from the Northeast to Bermuda. Yet, another option is a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska. These are just few of many possibilities for a cruise. Keith
busybusybusy Posted September 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2004 We took the Golden Princess to the Southern Caribbean this past August, and we loved it. Not sure about what the itinerary will be next summer, what with all the hurricane damage. The ship is absolutely beautiful. We booked a mini-suite, and had more than enough room for 4 of us and a wonderful balcony. No matter where you go, it will be wonderful because you will be at sea!!:D
serene56 Posted September 20, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2004 Eastern Caribbean: St Thomas, St Marten and San Juan.
Giskard Posted September 26, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2004 Did you have kids with you? Did they use the Kids program on the Golden? We are considering the Golden for 2005 and I'm not familiar with Princess. Our last cruise (and our son's first) was on Voyager of the Seas. Unfortunately we set the standard high for him....what were we thinking. Any information would be appreciated. He will be 11 at the time of the cruise. born2crooz Posted September 26, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2004 My vote is for the Eastern Caribbean. St. Thomas gives you the choice of Maegen's Bay or Trunk Bay (St. John). Both are beautiful beaches and family friendly. They also have great shopping only steps from the ship. Because our cell phone worked, we went shoppping at the pier and left the kids on the ship with Camp Carnival (after a full day of beach fun). We could see the ship at all times and we left our cell phone number with the counselors, just in case. St. Maarten has so many beaches to choose from, it's hard to decide. We went to Galion Beach. Shallow, calm waters. There were about 15 other people on the beach with us. There were, however, 3 other ships in port that day. You do the math. It was our own private, paradise. Unfortunately, San Juan usually is on this itinerary also. We would never take the kids off there again. Hope this helps!
