St. Kitts Beach Bars

After reading quite a few posts, it seems that South Frigate Bay has a strip of little beach bars... is that correct?

DH and I fell in love with these types of bars (right off the sand, go in barefoot, locals/local drinks) while on a Windjammer Barefoot Cruise last winter and would LOVE to find places similar.

We are total beach bums (and bar crawlers:D ) so we're happy just chilllin' out, however, honestly, are we missing that much by not taking a tour of the island?

You will find a cluster of tiny bars at the western tip of South Frigate Bay, one of the island's most popular beaches. (Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack, Monkey Bar, Rainbow Bar, Lava Ground, Ziggy's, Inon's)

The beer is cold, there's reggae on the sound system, the positive vibes and, with the Caribbean waves lapping gently against the sand a few yards away, all is well in this particular corner of paradise.

You don't find places like this anymore in most of the Caribbean.

The beach bars may not be the glitziest in the region, but they more than make up for it in character, ambiance and casual chic. They're friendly, they're funky and they're fun. :)

The first thing I do when I go home is head to http://www.mrxshiggidyshack.com and http://www.ziggysbeachbar.com

I like "limin" with the locals at the Thursday night bonfire, enjoy a Pina Colada or two, listen to live entertainment, play some volleyball and watch a beautiful sunset.

By not going on a tour of the island you will miss seeing Brimstone Hill Fortress http://www.brimstonehillfortress.org and Romney Manor http://www.caribellebatikstkitts.com

Then again, what better reason to come back for a longer stay! :)

If you go to The Shiggidy Shack, be sure to say hi to Paula the bartender for me....
