CruisingCavalier Posted September 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Hi guys, We will be going on P&O Pacific Dawn on Feb 6 2007 to Fiji (Pt Vila), New Caladonia (Nomea), and Fiji (Suva). Just wanted to know whether there are some disability friendly on-shore excursions ? The individual we are travelling with walks with a stick, but has limited physical manuverability (eg walking over sand would be out of the question). I would appreciate feedback particularly from people who are in the same position and have/not participated in on-shore excursions within these ports. Thanks in advance.:o
Splinter Posted September 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2007 I would stick with ship's tours in those locations. Fiji can be a little iffy on your own. If he can get in and out of a van or bus, the ship's tours would probably be best. Nomea is a dirty smoggy town. We walked around there with the wheelchair (difficult due to lack of curb cuts and cars that try to hit you with a wheelchair...they are French!) but much preferred our stop on the Isle of Pines there. Get out of town to see something pretty. Otherwise, you can take cabs, but in New Caledonia this will be fairly expensive...somewhat less so in Fiji, but stick with a tour operator there recommended by the cruise line.
