clivep Posted October 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2007 Please can anyone tell me if there are table tennis tables on this ship? My wife and I are taking our cruise in November and always enjoy a game.
crsrock Posted October 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2007 When I was on board in April, there were two tables on deck 9 just forward of the pool. The paddles and balls were in a rack nearby. Have fun playing while the ship moves!!!!!
Taleena Posted October 4, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2007 Not only does the movement of the ship play havoc with your game, but if you're playing while the ship is underway, you can sometimes get a really mean windtunnel effect that will whip the ball every which way. My DH and I tried playing one evening and boy, was that the most challenging game of table tennis I've ever played. Just watch the ball doesn't go through the doors into the Solarium pool. ;)
clivep Posted October 4, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted October 4, 2007 Thanks for the info. Last time we were on the Jewel of the Seas and one table was on the out side of the automatic door near the Windjammer. Every time anyone came thru' the doors an almighty gust of wind made play very challenging. We shall use up some of our very valuable luggage allowance (we get 15kg on our flight for a 13 night cruise!) for our bats. As has been said, the bats provided are normally kept next to the tables unlike on the MSC Opera cruise we did this May where the bats (and golf clubs) were kept at reception about as far away from the playing areas as possible. I think this summarises well the comparitive attitudes of the cruise companies towards their passengers.
