JB3 Posted August 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2004 Hi... we're sailing on the new Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas in Janurary. Looking for a hotel in Ft Lauderdale for the night before we sail... Curious to know if anyone has stayed at either the DoubleTree Oceanfront on Seabreeze Blvd. Or the Marriot Marina on 17th St. Thank you very much for any opinions or comments! MNYTRPS2GO2 Posted August 31, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2004 You can't go wrong with the Marriott Marina. Ask for a high room facing the port and from your balcony you'll be able to watch the ships coming into port the morning of your cruise. You have to get up very early but it's well worth the loss of sleep! The water Taxi also has a stop at this hotel.
dramamama Posted August 31, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2004 I agree. This a a lovely hotel very close to the port. The hotel has a shuttle that is very convenient and I know you can't go wrong by staying there. We could see our ship from our balcony.
JB3 Posted September 5, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted September 5, 2004 Thank you all very much for the response! Unfortunately we couldn't get into the Marina Marriott for free with our Hilton Points, so we are booked at the DoubleTree Oceanfront. We're staying 2 nites prior to our cruise. Has anyone stayed at the DoubleTree Oceanfront before by chance? PS...If we knew we could get the Marina Mariott with Priceline for sure, we'd maybe try that and save our points for another time. On Priceline can you put in a specific hotel or is it just luck of the draw?
Ellya Posted September 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2004 You cannot specify your hotel on Priceline. Some folks spend a lot of time analyzing details so they have a good guess of what hotel they might be getting, but it is still just a guess. Can anyone tell me what to ask for on price line to get the Marina Marriott or the DoubleTree Oceanfront. When I went to NO I got great advise on the board. Mary Cruiser Posted November 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2004 Pineview, Check out this web site http://www.biddingfortravel.com. People post what hotels they got on Priceline and what they paid for it. Very helpful site.
captseaton Posted November 30, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Quite a few people overlook the Pillars at New River Sound which is why it is somewhat of a hidden jewel. They feature complimentary Town Car shuttle to wherever you need to go. http://www.pillarshotel.com I'm not a huge fan of the DoubleTree on A1A especially if there are noise high school swim teams in town (it's across from the Swimming Hall of Fame). All cruisers here with a nice breakfast spread which was included. We selected this because not only did they have a free shuttle to the port. But if you arrive very late at night (we arrived at 3:30 am ) they have a 24 hr. airport shuttle.. So we felt we used our points quite well.. terry55 Posted January 20, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2005 Has anyone stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Airport and Cruiseport? Heard it's new and in a convenient location and has free shuttles. Have some Marriott points for a free night, but don't want to stay at the Marriott Mariana as we'd only be there for less than 24 hours. Thanks for any comments.:)
