Alexandria for half a day

Wife and I arrive on QE2 November 16, leave November 17 and are looking for sightseeing suggestions.

 

We will definitely do a Pyramids/Sphinx tour on the first day and will probably book through Cunard unless better can be found. On the second day as ship leaves at 12pm we felt we would like to do our own thing walking in Alexandria.

 

I am confused as to whether the ship docks in the town or elsewhere and am looking for suggestions as to the best things to see in the limited time. Any help please to make this visit a super experience.
