Seranade of the Seas odor

Recommended Posts

This to anyone who has gone on this ship in the last week. A group of us will going on the Serenade of the Seas on December 1. I've been reading reviews about this ship and almost everyone talks about the terrible odor in the halls on decks 8, 9 & 10. My question ...is that odor still present?

Thank you,

Rea

This seems to happen on ALL ships at some time or other. I don't know why they can't figure out what causes this and rectify it! On a Brilliance cruise, the odor was present in our bathroom 8 out of 10 days---very, very annoying. Nothing the staff did seemed to help for any length of time. Keeping all the drains closed at all times mitigated the odor, but didn't eliminate it totally.

We've had it occur on EVERY ship--just not to that extent, and not in our room, Thank God!

We have only been on Serenade once, and never noticed any smell of concern. In fact, we've never smelled anything on any of our cruises. Knock on wood for us!

Less than 60 days to go.....

We just got off this ship on Friday.

We were in a D1 Deck 9 hump, had a very slight odor in the bathroom sometimes but we had it on other ships as well and it was no problem.

Heavy smoke smell on Deck 9 toward aft area in the hallway but that is from passengers.

It was a great cruise and we love the ship. Really did not notice an odor around the ship.

We sailed her this past June 30th, ALaska, deck 8. HORRIBLE sewer like smell, all week, long, My parents were on deck 10 JS, a slight odor their.

Unfortunatley, our cabin steward was never around, or when we called about it, he was sleeping and let us know he would bring spray when he turned the beds down. Didn't work, it was disgusting. The smell was in our hall, and a couple others, and our room. Guest relations had no answer for it, many people complained. Oh well, just our luck.

On the Monarch last January, our friends next door had a sewer odor as well, but some how, when maintenence came, the oder dissappeared.

So I can see it's still the same for the most part. They really should resolve this issue, it really put a damper on our cruise.

Good luck and don't forget to pack Lysol, or Febreeze!, You may need it and it will help I'm sure ;)

Oh, I have a sneaking suspicion that RCCL knows exactly why this occurs !

That's my point...it occurs on every ship. RCCL knows exactly what the situation is about, exactly why it occurs and it is probably beyond their control to rectify...

Which is why everyone keeps getting the " we have no clue what is causing the smell  " responses.

Just got off on Friday 5th October. Had a deck 7 inside cabin right by the Centrum. Couldnt smell a thing. Occasionally there was a bit of an odour on the lower decks. But it soon disapated (sp) The only problem we had all week was that we were above the casino and whenever someone won a jackpot they let everyone know over the speaker system in the casino, no matter what time of night and we could hear that. Somehow they never called our name though, it sucked!

we have smelled it on several ships and was told that it happens when someone throws something down the toilet and it stops things up and until they locate the problem........... yikes.

so...i buy yankee candle car freshners and hang 1 in the bathroom and 1 right by the door. i get either the mango, pineapple or coconut scent. very tropical and it works. now if the smell is in the hallway.......:o
