skarletohara Posted August 31, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Ever since cruise critic changed their boards, my post count is inaccurate. For example, I had posted 301 times, and then after they changed their boards, it showed some bogus number like 25 or 30 times. Now the post count reflects 56 times when in fact I've posted 359 time approx. How does one correct this count? Not that it's a big deal or anything, but just curious. srphnx Posted August 31, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Durning the conversion all posts over a year old got dropped as did the count on them. There is no correcting this it was part of the process, I lost nearly 1000. Ever since cruise critic changed their boards, my post count is inaccurate. skarletohara Posted August 31, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Thank you all for clearing up part of the mystery. HOWEVER, the only posts that were over a year old were maybe 150 or so. Therefore, the count is still inaccurate. Computer conversions are always so accurate, huh? Thanks again everyone!
spongerob Posted August 31, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2004 If my memory is functioning properly, there was an attempt made to save posts up to 12 months out, but this board had been so corrupted that only a few months could be saved. I "lost" something like 800 posts.
lostdart58 Posted August 31, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2004 I think the important issue here is: Due to the conversion of the cruise critic boards has anyone lost either one of their past cruises or one of their future cruises?? Mine still seem to be intact!!:D :D
Globaliser Posted August 31, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Thank you all for clearing up part of the mystery. HOWEVER, the only posts that were over a year old were maybe 150 or so. Therefore, the count is still inaccurate. Computer conversions are always so accurate, huh?IIRC, what happened was this. All threads started on or after 1 April 2004 were migrated to the new boards. All threads started before that date were not, even if they had posts (replies) to them which were made on or after that date. Also, some boards (notably the HAL board) were so corrupted that only a small fraction of stuff got brought over. The new post count was basically the number of posts brought over under these rules. WeBeGone Posted August 31, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 31, 2004 just curious - Why does anyone care how many posts?
CruiseFever Posted August 31, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2004 just curious - Why does anyone care how many posts? Because they can be traded for fabulous prizes? No Because they have cash value? No Because they make men more manly and women more womenly? Maybe Because it is believed that the more posts you have, the smarter you are? Oh Yes! Please tell my wife that! Because those of us that live here want to feel as though we have accomplished something with our lives? Sadly, yes
