shipmate67 Posted October 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2007 If a group cruise was offered the week of Thanksgiving would you go? Would you take other family members? Friends? Would the kids enjoy themselves more? Would a week at sea be better then a week at the in-laws? Or would you invite them along?
tbjl24 Posted October 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2007 I've thought about it. But I love Thanksgiving too much! Food, football and family. I'd go the week before or after! :D IMHO

Lv2Camp&Cruise Posted October 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2007 We cruised last year during Thanksgiving and would do it agian in a second. We spent Thanksgiving Day in Cozumel and it was perfect!!!
LABecca Posted October 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2007 I love cruising during Thanksgiving. Christmas is spent at home with my family and Easter is spent with my husbands family. Thanksgiving is a toss up, so instead of having to choose, we avoid confrontation and cruise! It makes my life soooo much easier.

Would the kids enjoy themselves more? Would a week at sea be better then a week at the in-laws? Or would you invite them along? No, Thanksgiving is a family time when our family will get together and not only celebrate Thanksgiving but Christmas too. Our family is large and we are not able to be together for all the holidays, so this is the one time we can really enjoy being together. If we were all on a crusie together, my DH and I would probably have to pay for it, which I am not inclined to do. We are a rowdy bunch and if you have ever watched Brothers and Sisters on Sunday nights on ABC, they come to mind when talking about our family LOL. JeanG Posted October 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2007 We will be on the Glory this year on Thanksgiving. No cooking, cleaning up, just cruising. We've also cruised Christmas and would do both again.
Ms. Fun Bunch Posted October 11, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2007 I would love to cruise at Thanksgiving since I do all or most of the cooking. I have been trying to talk my entire family into going on a Thanksgiving cruise for the last 2 years but haven't had any luck yet.
shipmate67 Posted October 11, 2007 Author #10 Share Posted October 11, 2007 No, Thanksgiving is a family time when our family will get together and not only celebrate Thanksgiving but Christmas too. I have noticed more and more families celebrateing both holidays at the same time. I think it is great that a family would put out such a great effort to do this together. I am thinking of putting together a group cruise for Thanksgiving 2008 for all families, couples, singles, whom ever wants to go, on the Carnival Glory. Any interest from anyone? :)

Any interest from anyone? :) Since are daughters are married and have children they also have in-laws that want to spend time with them too. Our son is not married, so he is easy, but the girls and their families like having the combined event. We put up the tree and open all the presents the day after Thanksgiving. We do celebrate a bit on Christmas Eve, go to Mass, have nice diner and open a gift or two just to say we did celebrate Christmas LOL. And then on Christmas Day my DH and I pack the car all up so we can leave the next day to go to the Texas Gulf Coast for three months :D I admire that you are doing this, it is a lot of work and I hope it works out and you have a fabulous cruise. eastexascruiser Posted October 11, 2007 #13 Share Posted October 11, 2007 I finally convinced my family to do a group cruise over Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to spending time with our family and not cooking & cleaning!!! Thanksgiving is really our most special "family" time cruise so I am so happy my sisters & parents decided to go. This will be their first cruise. I'm hoping everyone enjoys it so that we can make it a family tradition!
hockeymom97 Posted October 11, 2007 #14 Share Posted October 11, 2007 We will be cruising during Thanksgiving this year and I can't wait!! We invited some close family members but they either couldn't get away or just preferred to be home for the holiday. Their loss right? :p Personally I like taking vacation during Thanksgiving week because I get a full week of vacation but only need to use 3 of my vacation days :D And my son already has the entire week off so I don't need to pull him out of school, which is a bonus as well. suseg Posted October 11, 2007 #23 Share Posted October 11, 2007 I'd go whenever I could! LOL I'm not proud! Our next one is for New Year's Eve in Dec. 2008, wish we could go sooner but we have so many weeks of timeshare backed up that if we don't use them we'll lose them (we own six different timeshare weeks). We offer them to the kids but they are so used to us paying for everything that they don't want to go anywhere without us! If my parents had offered me a free week, anywhere, I would have jumped. *singing from Bye-Bye Birdie*...."Kids, what's the matter with kids today?" shipmate67 Posted October 11, 2007 Author #24 Share Posted October 11, 2007 \DH works Thanksgivings, kids all go to inlaws houses.....that leaves me & the TV:( This is why I want to do a group cruise. I have very little family still with us. My kids are at their dad's house and it is just me and my DH. We are looking to surround ourselves with new friends that we can consider our family for that Thanksgiving. The holidays can be lonely but not if we can help it. :D
