Question about bus fares - how much is a 3 day bus pass. Can you also pay in cash (how much and do you need exact change). Are there tokens or single ride passes. Going next week and am confused. Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

We just came back on Sunday. It was a great time and the bus passes made it so easy to travel around. The pass is good for unlimited use of the buses and the ferries, so you can pretty much get to anywhere you want. The only exception is in St. George, you need to take a seperate shuttle to the beach (either Tobacco Bay or St Catherine's) and only costs $3 each way.

The three day pass is $28 and we bought our at the post office in St. George. You could also buy the pass at Cafe Latte the internet cafe right near the post office as well. Since the post office did not have schedules, you have to go to Cafe Latte for those anyways. The one day pass is $12 and the two day is $20. Children under 5 ride for free and those 5-16 also get a discount, I think it was $6 a day. We paid in cash at the P.O. and they gave us our change. Last year they took our credit card at the Vistor's center.

You can buy tokens for one trip if you want. There also are books of paper tokens but they involve zones of travel and were too complicated to figure out. It was simply easier to get the bus pass and use it as much as I wanted.

If you have any more questions please ask as I still have the bus and ferry schedules.:)

Ask at the excursion desk on your ship. On the Crown on our cruise they had one and two day passes but no three day. We bought ours at a little grocery store next to the bus stop off the pier in St George. Just ask around when you get off the ship where to buy bus tickets. :)

If you don't mind walking (we love to walk) you can walk to tobaco bay and St.Catherines is almost right next door. It was actually a pretty walk and ANY local will tell you how to get there. They are the friendliest people on any Island I've ever been to.

We leave tomorrow and cannot wait. The suitcase is opened on the bed and I'm starting to fill it ....

Look over your itinerary and make some vague plans before making your purchase.

For example, we arrive late morning in Hamilton. We'll be directly on Front Street, so will spend an hour or so there before Lunch. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon at the Dockyard area. The one-way cost of the Ferry is $4. We'll return to the ship for dinner and won't venture farther than Front St in the evening. Thus we'll just pay in each direction, totalling $8, instead of spending the $12.

We'll buy a one day pass for our 2nd full day. Our 'third' day has a departure at 8:30am, so no need for a pass that day either.

Just a thought...I know, it's "only" $4 - but for a family those 'onlies' add up!!

We purchased paper tickets at the post office for $20. We used them for our 3 days there, and still had tickets left. We rode the bus everyday sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. The tickets were marked for "zones", when we got onboard we asked the driver how many tickets we needed and it was never over 2 each. We saved money by buying the zone tickets. But please beware, we got off at Devils Hole planning on spending the afternoon there. Did not check the hours before hand, it was closed and we missed the last bus from that area. Ask the driver about bus schedules before you get off. One of the locals walked us to the next town over to catch a bus. All he wanted was conversation. The locals are great, just ask questions and be respectfully and they will do the same!

Just a note:--there were NO passes available at all on Crown...

we bought ours at the Vistors Center -right in building as you get off...there was a line-though-with only one person working there...

We are just back from the Empress of the Seas and they sold 2 day passes only onboard. They said they no longer had the 3 day pass as too many complaints that one day wasted as the ship did not arrive in Bemuda until 3 pm. For $27 it is still worth it for three days as one ferry ride is $4 pp one way so $16 for one round trip ferry ride. Also when you ride the bus you need exact money of $4.

They sell the one, two and three day passes in the ferry dock office right by the ship and no line when we bought ours.
