Vikingin China, Sept. 2008

We are considering a trip on Viking River Cruises beginning of September, 2008. The boat sounds lovely but price seems too good to be true. How would this compare to a Tauck trip to China?? Please respond if you have been on the Viking "Sky" lately, or have any input for us. Thanks!

Check out the Viking China on this board. There is almost 1500 post. Also there are several reviews posted under REVIEWS.

 

All of the reports have been excellent. Cabins are more like small hotel rooms with hotel style beds. Also Viking Century Sun and Viking Century Sky are built for the American market. Both ships have mechinical Dishwashers that use the correct temperatur and time to ensure clean dishware and flatware, etc.

I leave on Nov 1 for the Cultural Delights with a pre-stay in Hong Kong.

The hotels are mostly top-of the line chains. Ritz, Westin, Shangri-La.

 

Remember the most or the people working in the hotels and on the river vessel are locals.

 

I will report back from my trip. (It will be after T-Day in November. We get back in time to hit the Black Friday (Morning after Thanksgivig) Sales.

We are scheduled to arrive back in Atanta about 6:30 PM on 21 November, Thankdsgiving evening. We have a motel room for that evening. I did not want to find out the last flight home had been cancelled and we need to find a place to sleep.

 

We fly out of Atlant about 1:30 PM to go home, The Mississippi Gulf Coast. We will fly into the Gulfport/Biloxi Airport. We will either eat in the Atlanta airport, a casino. In fact we may have family from Mobile meet us at one of the casinos for T-Day dinner. I am not cooking that day.
