nugrammy Posted October 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2007 We are celbrating a birthday our first day on board. If we want to celbrate at dinner with song and dance, etc to call ahead of time, talk to the maitre-de ahead of time or tell our waiter? thanks;)
jleq Posted October 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2007 No need to call ahead of time. Telling your waiter is fine. They may [or may not] stick a candle in a piece of cake. Definately sing for you, tho
UPCrawfish Posted October 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2007 Ten of us sailed out of NOLA on the Carnival "Fantasy" on Sept 27. Two of our group had 60th birthdays on the 28th which was the first full day at sea AND 'formal night'. One of the "perpetrators" had a conversation with our head waiter on the first night and told him of what she would like to do and it kind of went from there. I do not know if she had to clear with the maitre de'. He was able to get her into the dining room before the 6:15 PM seating and she spread noisemakers - party hats - tiaras and crowns - mardis gras beads - curly paper throws - a whole bunch of 'stuff' out on the table. We came in and saw the table laid out as did about 3/4's of the seating. Many had to pass our table to get to their's. Songs were sung by the table - by the wait staff and tables surrounding ours.. Candles appeared in the desserts. Photos are flashing all around the table. People around us came by and took photos of the table.. It was neat............... By the way "nugrammy" ?? Win a music award or have a new grandchild ?? :D
SunnyinMA Posted October 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2007 You can also order a cake from the Bon Voyage dept and they will bring the cake out and sing after dinner.
Smiling Cruiser Posted October 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2007 We brought our own birthday decorations, including cake plates, when we celebrated my sister's 50th birthday. We had fancy hats and favors from Oriental trading. Someone was assigned to bring my sister into the dining room a few minutes late. It was her actual birthday and everyone helped us celebrate. Our waitress even found us in the casino later that night and brought her a drink! On the first night, before the big party, we had 2 cakes. One for a cousin who turned 60 the month before, and one for Mom, who turned 75 two months before. We had the greatest time and the staff was wonderful.
