Carnival Victory Evening SJ - Advice!

My best friend and I are booked for the EC cruise in January. We're both single gals...34 and 40 (just a little background that might help in advice on activities). We will be arriving in SJ at 5 and leaving at midnight. I would love any advice on the ABSOLUTELY CAN'T MISS THIS things that we can hit during the night. It'll be my first night port visit...so haven't a clue. Anything from authentic food, authentic dance, night tours.....anything that will allow us to suck in as much feel for the city as possible in our sooooo short visit! I know there is a Senor Frogs, etc....but been there done that...hoping that there is plenty of other lively fun that isn't found everywhere....and possibly a great history lesson type tour....up for anything!

Ask your Waitstaff about the disco they go to- I think it's called Lazer. It's walking distance as long as you're not too tipsy :) It's a pretty happening place or at least it was 2 years ago when we tried to go. The waiters had recommended it to us. We basically walked around OSJ, found a nice local flavor place to eat, did some shopping, hit the casino at the Wyndham, had some shots as we walked around, and headed back to the ship. There was a line at the disco and folks we were with from the ship didn't want to wait and pay cover when we only had an hour left....
