At sea you would have to go through the ships service first which would relay you to a land site. So you would first pay X for that service.

You can google 'Sim Card Purchase' and find places to buy them. In our case, we waited until we got to Europe and bought there but we could have bought them here.

I purchased a mobal cell phone last year. Purchased the cheaper one, but they were out of stock and sent the better Siemens phone for $49. Great deal.

 

I've used it in a number of countries--$1.50 per minute. Last month, in South Africa, i had one of the local phone stores unlock the phone ($20 to do this). Now I can either use the phone with the Mobal sim card and pay $1.50 per minute, or buy local sim cards as needed.

I received the Blackberry on Tuesday and the Sim Card on Wednesday - plugged it in and voila - it sees Cingular and T-Mobile. Unfortunately no browser but hey apparently Mobal does not provide that - I am going to call them on Monday. BUT - for $37 bucks I now have a PDA and with any luck a phone to go with it - Life appears to be good.
