Playa Mia vs. Paradise Beach

Help me out here!! Leaving on EOS 11/14 :) and are heading to Cozumel. We had looked at Paradise Beach but now I've been reading a lot about Playa Mia. What are the pros and cons to each beach? Paradise Beach has an open bar but do they supply chairs? :confused: I see Playa Mia does. Paradise is $29 pp plus taxi. Help!!

I think you are reversed. Playa Mia has entrance fee, PB does not. PB does cost to use water toys, and wants you to buy food if you use the chairs, but that is to be expected.

The con's to Playa Mia is it is the cruise ship's AI they offer on nearly every line, therefore, it will be quite crowded on certain days. The chairs are hard plastic and on the ground.

PB is popular too, so dont get me wrong, it can be crowded as well. But you could leave and go elsewhere if you so choose becuase there is no entrance fee.

We were planning to do the excursion through RCCL so that is where I got the price and information from. The book says it does include open bar so I didn't know if we would be getting ripped off or not. Still debating to do our own thing or go through RCCL. Thanks!

There are many other options besides the 2 places you mentioned. Playa Uvas, Wyndham Beach Club and Nachi Cocom come to mind. You can do a search and get a lot of info about them on these boards.

Hey! There is going to be 14 of us looking to have a good time celebrating a friends 40th!! We just want a place to kick back, have some cocktails and enjoy ourselves. Water toys would be fun too. I thought the excursion looked decent until I started reading all of these threads!:)

Jrsygrl......if your group consists of all adults, I would research Nachi Cocom and Playa Uvas. There are different threads on CC about both places. The DW and myself are going to Nachi in Dec. Good luck with your search.

Life jackets are available near the non-motorized water toys, which are included in your entrance package.

BEACH TOWEL rental is available: $ 5.00 USD refundable deposit required and $ 3.00 USD daily rental fee per towel.

SNORKEL equipment is available from our Marina in order to experience our Underwater Mayan City located in the ocean just off our private beach. Snorkel gear is available for rent for $ 12.00 USD per person. Rental includes mask, fins & snorkel. Guests are allowed to bring own equipment.

 

ROCK WALL CLIMBING is $ 8.00 USD per climb. Shoe rental is $ 2.00 USD.

 

 

 

We have the following guided tours available from the Playa Mia® Marina:

 

BANANA BOAT rides are $ 12.00 USD per person per trip. Each round trip is approximately 15 minutes. Minimum age of 8 years is required.

 

GLASS BOTTOM BOAT tours are $27.00 USD per person per tour. Price includes marine park taxes, bottled water, soft drinks and professional guide. Tour is approximately 1&1/2 hrs. Subject to availablility.

 

PARASAILING is $ 55.00 USD per 10 minute flight. Price doubles for tandem*. $ 15.00 USD for an observer traveling in the boat.

* Tandem available depending on weather conditions and weight of persons.

 

SCUBA DIVING prices are as follows:

 

Playa Mia® Park has dive operators affiliated with PADI; we have full professional equipment including three dive boats.

 

The diving packages are as follows:

 

1. ONE TANK DIVE / FULL EQUIPMENT - Includes: full professional equipment, divemaster/instructor, dive boat with first aid kit equipment (DAN equipment on board), and purified bottled water. $ 75.00 USD per passenger.

 

2. TWO TANK DIVE / FULL EQUIPMENT - Includes: full professional equipment, divemaster/instructor, dive boat with first aid kit equipment (DAN equipment on board), and purified bottled water. $ 85.00 USD per passenger.

 

3. ONE TANK DIVE / NON-EQUIPMENT - Includes: divemaster/instructor, dive boat with first aid kit equipment (DAN equipment on board), and purified bottled water. $ 55.00 USD per passenger.

 

4. TWO TANK DIVE / NON-EQUIPMENT - Includes: divemaster/instructor, dive boat with first aid kit equipment (DAN equipment on board), and purified bottled water. $ 65.00 USD per passenger.

 

5. DISCOVER SCUBA / RESORT (One tank, No Certification required) - Includes: full professional equipment, instruction, divemaster/instructor, dive boat with first aid kit equipment (DAN equipment on board) and purified bottled water. $ 85.00 USD per passenger.

 

You can choose one (for one tank dive) or two reefs (for two tank dive) from the following sites:

All the reefs are DRIFT dives and we can dive according to your experience.

Please, provide us the name, diver certification number (PADI, NAUI, SSI) and date of the last dive of each person interested.

 

SNORKELING tour pricing:

 

SINGLE REEF SNORKEL - Includes Marine park taxes, snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, snorkel and snorkeling safety vest), bottled water, beer and professional guide. Tour is approximately 1 hour in length.

 

Snorkel sites available:

 

Cardona, San Clemente or Yucab

 

Price: $27.00 USD per person

 

TRIPLE REEF SNORKEL - Includes Marine park taxes, snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, snorkel and snorkeling safety vest), bottled water, beer and professional guide. Length of tour is approximately 2 & 1/2 hours.
