Ellanora Posted October 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2007 I've been to Freeport twice. The first time, I won a Carnival excursion, I think it was called Tranquility Shores Beach Break. It was 5 hours of sitting on the beach. It did have jet skis for rent, and music playing, and a bar with food. The beach was nice, but I found 5 hours to be a bit much for me. The second time, I was with my son who was 9 at the time, and my parents. We rented a taxi (plenty of them at the cruise ship) for $5 per person each way. It was actually a taxi van, so a few other people from the ship rode along. We all went to the same spot - Our Lucaya Marketplace. We really enjoyed our time here - shops, restaurants, a casino, and a beautiful public beach. Along the beach were a Westin and a Sheraton. You weren't allowed to use the pools unless you bought a room, but you could walk the grounds, which were pretty. I highly recommend heading here for the day and hitting the beach, shops, and restaurants. We all arranged with our taxi driver to meet us back at the casino at a specific time - plenty of time left to get back to the ship. This is a regular occurence - in the afternoon, there are tons of taxis waiting at the casino.
