Monarch of the Seas - Just got back!

Recommended Posts

We just returned from a 4-day on the Monarch of the Seas. We had a great time, even won some money at the casino. Any questions anyone has I'd be happy to answer.

Just some observations....the ship is really starting to show some wear. Don't get me wrong...it's not falling apart or anything. Still is a very beautiful ship, but there are a lot of worn spots in the carpet, chipped paint, etc. Still...it's very functional and clean. Our room was seriously tiny - I mean REALLY! I've never experienced a stateroom that tiny on any of the other 26 cruises I've been on!

The food varied from delicious to okay. We ate breakfast in at the Windjammer buffet every morning...no lunch...and dinner in the 1st seating in the dining room. I found the food at breakfast to be the same stuff every morning. Very boring, tasteless and bland. Dinner in the dining room most of the dishes were really good. The best was probably the filet of beek on the formal night. The strawberry cheesecake was unbelieveably delcious. The third night they also had a really amazing chocolate buffet. Not to be missed.

We did enjoy the activities they offered, but felt that they could have had more trivia. We won 1st place on Quest...what a riot! And also got a gold metal for "Family Fued". They offered karoke every night - which I always love. But....their selection of songs were so limited! Almost no country at all. Still....the sound system was good, and the venue was wonderful.

We had a really nice time - let me know if you have any questions I can answer about the Monarch!
