smurfm69 Posted October 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2007 Hi all we just returned from a 4 day cruise on the Fantasy out of New Orleans and was wondering why the ship docked at the international pier instead of the punta lagosta pier. Last December on the same cruise, we docked at punta lagosta and loved the location. It was close to shopping and Carlos N Charlies, so no need to pay for a taxi into town. The weather wasn't great but at least it didn't rain until we were getting back onto the ship that afternoon. Still had a great time.

PA Dutchman Posted October 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2007 I think if RCI is in the Punta port CCL must go to the lower pier.
smurfm69 Posted October 30, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted October 30, 2007 We were the only ship in port. The Ecstasy was supposed to be there the same day as us but heard they canceled. Last year, there were 2 carnival ships there and bothe docked at punta lagosta pier.
*Mach* Posted October 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2007 I think if RCI is in the Punta port CCL must go to the lower pier. Could be but I've seen both Carnival and RCCL ships at Punta in the past. I suspect it might well be commitments they already have for the pier regardless of no shows... These schedules are made months in advance and must be difficult to change.

7SEASSISTER Posted October 30, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2007 isn't Carnival's pier the international one? when we were there last they were looking at opening it, so i wonder if they will try to dock there more frequently? could be wrong though, maybe someone knows? If we had docked downtown there would have been very little need for taxis and there would probably have been zero shopping where we did dock. It's about the $$$$$
