Arranging Horseback Riding Tour at Pier?

We're going on a cruise in a month (man, I can't believe it's almost here) and one of our 4 stops is Belize. We're considering going horseback riding, but our kids are 6 and 8, and we've never done a cruise with 4 ports before - I'm just not 100% positive our kids will be up to fully enjoy 4 shore excursions in a row. With that in mind, we're thinking about possibly "winging it" in Belize since it's the port we're most on the fence about in terms of what to do.

SO - do you guys know if it's possible to find a tour operator at the pier who can take us to Smuggler's Run, or elsewhere, to horseback ride? Any idea on pricing at the pier? I understand we may end up having to do something else, or nothing at all, but I'm wondering if this is even a possibility. I don't want to book a $260 excursion when we're just not sure we'll make it.
