Celebrity Video arcade? Playstations? what?

We were on the constellation a year ago with 2 teens and 3 other kids - they have Playstation and Wii at home and weren't impressed with the selection in the arcade. However, a few weeks ago we were on the Mercury where the selection was much better, so maybe Celebrity has upgraded their arcades in the past year? There's a regular arcade apart from the kids's center, but it does cost $ except for certain scheduled "free" nights. The kids' center has free nintendo/playstation modules, and even had a guitar hero playoff one night.

I would encourage your teens to be involved in the young adults activities - it sounds "lame" at first, and takes some skillful parental manipulating to get them to the teen center, but once involved they have great fun. On the last cruise the young adults were up later than we were, doing Casino Royale night, midnight scavenger hunts, "coketails" and other horrible stuff that they don't get to do at home.

Thanks for the reply.

On our last cruise DS14 did get connected with the teens and had a great time. DS11 didn't and he now admits he should ahve jumped on into the fun.

We don't have any Playstation or Wii or anything here at home--and the boys gameboys are "lame and old"...so upgraded video games--if they exist will be great fun (with a bugetary limit)

Hopefully the Constellation ahs upgraded their teen offerings

(...I saw on another line that this other ship has a gigantic Wii station....)

still --the boys enjoy making friends and hanging out..doing fun stuff

The videogames really aren't good on Celebrity. They are all the driving and or violent games.

But the programs for kids and teens are really good on board and frankly I met two boys on my last cruise that didn't even attempt to get involved with the other teens and spent all their freetime playing video games- even off the ship in Venice!

Kids should be interacting with others not burying their heads in videogames. So be glad the selection isn't great.

Constellation is a lovely ship. There is a nice basketball court. The disco is used for teen happening. They have allocated teens area that I wasn't privy to because my son is only 7.

Besides the QM2 (which doesn't have a video arcade at all) Constellation is my favorite ship.

Thats all good to hear. We have always limited their Gameboy use--It was for long travel trips in the car or airports only--and also for waiting during visa processing when we were living overseas

I am probably going to get flamed for saying this--BUT in our experience, frankly alot of kids who spend alot of time on video games have bad attitudes and poor social skills...

And Dh and I always dislike the way our boys behave and respond when they have spent time engrossed in a game...and the ones they are allowed to have are rated E.

So I guess we will have to go by the video arcade and see whats what-- todetermine budget and playability...I dont want to police them on vacation--but I would be disappinted if the games are all violent and anti-social.
