lilybug Posted November 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2007 We'll be leaving from Istanbul (7/31) and Italian wines are my favorite ... Bordeaux would be next in line ... what are the chances of being able to buy some nice wines in Istanbul to take on the ship? I can't drag it from home ... anyone familiar with where to buy wine there and what the selection may be like? Thanks
Leonid Posted November 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2007 The last time we were in Istanbul, there were duty free shops not far from embarkation. I remember that they had spirits (bought some), but I can't recall if they had wines. I would say probably YES, but I'm not 100% sure.
Cheesi Posted November 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2007 We pre-ordered from home and picked up wine when we arrived at the Istanbul airport. You pay when you pick up. http://www.atu.com.tr/ENG/preorder/preorder.aspx Take a look here.
LovesAffens Posted November 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2007 There are also duty free shops in the port area where you go through security to get on the ship. We decided to try a turkish wine, but I am pretty sure that there were Italian wines as well. Also, the duty free shop in the Istanbul airport was still open at 1:00 a.m. when we arrived. nowornever Posted November 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2007 decent prices for European wines & very convenient. You can shop while you're waiting on your luggage since it's adjacent to the luggage carousel.
