Clearwater to Tampa Airport

We're thinking about staying one night post cruise on the beach in Clearwater, then taking the 8am flight out of Tampa on Monday. Since I know there will be rush hour traffic, should we allow more than an hour to get to the airport? Just wondernig what time the Tampa rush hour begins...

Traffic getting across the bridges (from St Pete or Clearwater) to Tampa can be bad in the morning. Work rush hour typically starts to back up around 6:30 to 7. If you're on an 8 am flight, you'd probably need to be at the airport by 6 or 6:30, right? If you left at 5:30 or so, it would probably not take more than 25 to 30 minutes, depending on where in Clearwater you stayed (the beaches are a little further, maybe add an extra 5 or 10 minutes).
