burghputz Posted November 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2007 All - I am on the Pearl in December and I was wondering if someone has an opnion on the "beach break" excursions? I am stoping in Cozumel where there is the Playa Mia Deluxe Beach Break and Grand Camen where there is the Seven Mile Beach Break. If anyone has had a good or bad experience and would like to share it would be greatly appreciated.:) Also, if anyone has any suggestions for "low key" things to do there please share. Grandpaul Posted November 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2007 If nothing else, make sure you do Stingray City in Grand Cayman. Don't let the thought scare you. They are like little puppy dogs and are thrilling to be in the water with. I never miss an opportunity to do that.
sharks48 Posted November 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2007 Cozumel and Cayman are two places where it's easy to do excursions on your own. Unless there's something very special included in the "beach breaks" offered by the cruise line, you'd be better off on your own. In Cayman, the trip to Stingray City is outstanding, especially if you don't go with the "mob scene" cruise line excursions. Have been with Captain Marvin and Nativeway - both are good, I preferred the latter. If you want to go to SMB, you can just grab a cab [or if you're more adventurous the bus] and go. There are several locations you can go to, but Sea Grape Beach has chairs, etc; probably others do, too. In Coz, get a cab to Chankanaab park. It's easy and everything you could want is there - it's very pretty, too. Their website probably has a discount coupon for admission. Have fun!! associates Posted November 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2007 One word of caution about the bus, if it is close to time for people to be getting off work you may never get on the bus (it cost $2.00 per person) because it is full of locals, happened to me. took a cab cost 35.00 to go 3 1/2miles ouch:eek: not what I was used to paying but did not have shoes or legs to walk that far as we had been snorkeling all day so just be aware of the time, do not want to scare you off. also it is a mob most of the time at stingray island,it is not really an island 2-3 ft of water on a sand bar. It is worth surching out on the web because most will pick you up at port and take you there and then drop you back off at port.....what ever you do have a good time!:D check out photos at my web site http://www.freewebs.com/tropicaljeff/
