Tell me what you think?

I am tossing up whether or not to do the 2 nighter on the Pacific Sun next year.

It would just be my husband and I - no kids.

I cant decide whether I should fly to Sydney and sail to Brissie from there -(I have always wanted to sail out of Sydney )but its at 8pm- Will it still be as breathtaking at night?

Or should I sail out of Brissie and sail into Sydney at 8am in the morning?

I am having trouble deciding and I am not asking DH as he doesnt know about it!!!

I reckon you should do the one going down to sydney. Sailing out of brisbane at night is still pretty cool, we did that on the 3 night cruise to no where last year. Would be better now as you get to go under the gateway as well.

That way you get to see sydney in the daylight when you sail in.

I think its a great idea!! I have seen a twin advertised for $369!!too

I think I would sail into Sydney at 8am...mmm hard choice, sun would be behind you, so would get some good pics, Sydney is great at night, but unless you have a great camera, its difficult to take night shots that turn out:rolleyes: and 8pm would be dark, or twilight, so for photos I would choose sailing into Sydney at 8am, for the ambience, I love Sydney at night, ah I am no help!! See you Saturday:)

I would definitely cruise back from Sydney to brisbane because I would rather have the whole airport hassle at the beginning of my trip than at the end. There is nothing better than getting off a ship in your home town...no transfers, airports or even taxis if someone picks you up. :)

Hard choice. I agree that it's better to have the airport hassles at the start then relax and unwind for the 2 days following, but i'd also prefer to see Sydney harbour in the early morning than at night.

But if you go Bris to Syd then you can have a few days post cruise to go shopping :D You can also shop for a few days before the cruise if you go Syd to Bris LOL! I'm not helping at all am I??

If I had to choose i'd probably pick cruising from Bris to Syd then fly home. Then at least you know you're not going to have any issues with being late for the ship due to delayed or cancelled flights for any reason :)

but don't ever let the lack of a good photo be the decider!

Its quite often the deciding point for me, but for those who know me on here, they would know why ;)

Still stand by what i said about sailing out of brisbane at night. There probably isnt anything worth taking photos of except the cruise terminal when you leave but the lights you see as you glide down the river are so amazing. The oil refineries and fishermans island as well as the lights from the airport are so cool to see at night. Will go digging to see if we got any decent video from when we sailed then last year.

We are on the 2 nighter from Brisbane to Sydney and had it booked it 3 months ago. We have the 5 of us going for our daughters 18th birthday as all my family are in Sydney and we are having the party on the Sat night and flying home!

Our 1st cruise out of Sydney in Nov 2005 was running late and we left Sydney harbour at 8pm and it was AWESOME! Going under the harbour bridge so I would recommend it but it depends on what you can do.

We got ours for only $375 back 3 months ago and our 2 kids travelled for only $45 each but now they have them travelling for free I believe.

Good luck with your decision. You will have a great time regardless of whether it is from Brisbane-Sydney or Sydney-Brisbane.

Shame you didnt book a few weeks ago for the air travel. Jetstar had really cheap $35 one way tickets and we got all of the 5 of us back to Brisbane for only $200 or something like that!

Take care:p

We had this choice too, and we took the option of leaving from Brisbane and sailing to Sydney.... We like the idea of leaving from work and heading down to Portside to sailaway! When we get to Sydney we are going to travel on to Canberra by train and spend a few days there, then fly back to Brisbane.

We paid $404 pp for an outside twin.

Another advantage of going this way is we'll get to see Pacific Star one last time as she arrives in Sydney the same time we do - we'll probably be shadowing her down the coast from Brisbane.

I'd go Brisbane- Sydney. They view coming into the harbour of a morning is lovely. We sailed out at 6.30 (before daylight sving) and you couldn't see much. Better to stay one night after the cruise if you can and go to centerpoint tower and check out the view. Or walk to the opera house etc.

I would leave from sydney as I think the nigt views & pictures would be Great. Recently did cruise on Sun & we were back at Sydney dfor unloading at 8am but we sailed through heads at approx 5.45am & dayligt saving was on so still semi dark. While it was ok don't think it showed sydney at its best

Tell me about it. I was up the front at 5.30am onwards. It was windy, cold and wet. Wasn't the most 'warm' welcoming into Sydney.:p Glad I did it though.

Thanks everyone!

The reason I havnt told DH is that April 19 (Sailaway from Sydney at 8pm ) is his birthday , so we would fly down on the Friday and spend the night at the casino then sail on Sat night. It would be a surprise preasant for him- if I can sort out childminding before I book it!!

But, on the other hand, sailing out of Brisbane in March isnt that far away and I am just being impatient as I am hanging to go on another cruise!!

And also, another plus for going in April is that I will have more time to pay for it- as its a surprise, so still some scheming to be done, but I think April may be better!

I am from Sydney anyway(now living in Brisbane) so I dont have to sight see, I just want to sail away from there,

So to all the ccers at Portside on Saturday at our xmas party, SSSSHHHHH- dont say anything!!! ;) ;) ;) as Dh will be with me !!!

we are booked on pacific sun for sydney to brisbane 2 nighter - can't wait to leave sydney at night - always looks so beautiful.

what hints for me travelling with husband who wants to find quiet corners to relax. We are on upper deck - with window. Anyone know how best to change dinner sitting from early to late. TA says ask when on board. Are there tables for two - we like company but looking forward to OUR weekend.

Hi Baycruising, welcome to CC:)

Ask you travel agent to change you from early to late dinner, thats what you are paying them for:rolleyes: Its usually early dinner thats hard to get into, they should have aksed you when you booked what you preferred.

Traditional dining, you will not have tables for two on the PS, you have a choice of dining with 4,6,8 persons and they will be your dining companions for the whole cruise. If you wish to have a romantic dinner for two try the steak house.

Actually Chez, when we were on the Sun last year, we had to change to early sitting once on board & all that was available was a table for 2 and they put a chair on the end as there were 3 of us.
