Cave Tubing Question

We are going to Belize in April and want to do cave tubing on RC. I have read that going with a 3rd party may offer a better experience due to smaller groups, getting there earlier and extras. I would like to get some insight to this.

Thanks

Many many posts on this board regarding the tour operators used and suggested for this tour outside the cruiseline. I have used 2 of the recommended tour operators and have higher feelings for one than the other, but that is opinion only and everyone will have their own.

Do your research and I think that you will be better able to make an educated decision whom to book this tour with. The groups MAY BE SMALLER, but no guarantee....I was fortunate and had small groups everytime I went which I felt made the tour less crowded and better attention to each guest.

Please make certain you check into payment policiy, refund policy and NOT JUST PRICE !

I think after you review the positives and not so positives mentioned by those who have booked on their own, you will see what works best for your sceanrio.

You will love cave tubing... and if the tour guide does their job, you will come out enlightened with the history of the Mayan Culture as well.

I have done both. On our first trip to Belize, I had reserved with cave-tubing.com; however, mt daughter won the raffle at the tour talk and the prize was a cave tubing excursion so we went with Carnival instead. The second time we went with cave-tubing.com.

With Carnival we were the last of a group of 3 buses. Our bus' air conditioning was not really adequate. When we stopped prior to reaching the cave tubing site for a bathroom break, it took over 30 minutes to get everyone back into the bus. The cave tubing was fine - basically everyone got in the water and floated independently back to the start point. After tubing it took a long time to get everyone together and , as a result, we had only a few minutes for lunch.

With cave-tubing.com, we were part of a group of 18 people. They used a converted school bus was old, but comfortable with good air conditioning. There were 4 guides for the 18 of us and they were careful to keep us together. They linked us going down the river which I did like as well as going independently, but was much safer for the children in our group. At no time did we feel rushed or have to wait for others.

I enjoyed both, but when I go back this summer with my extended family, I will definitely take a private tour again.

Gotta agree..... Private tours are so much more personal and many times more cost effective as a bonus too !
