portadown Posted November 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2007 We are going to be on the QM2 for the December 20 sailing to the Caribbean. What is the best way to get cash on the boat? ATM on board? Purser? Thanks
VoyagerOne Posted November 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2007 There is an ATM onboard the QM2 adjacent to the casino, but you really don't need any cash on the ship as your passenger ID card is all you need for all purchases. If I remember correctly, the ATM also charges a slightly higher 'convenience' charge so it might be best to wait and get cash from an ATM at one of the ports, as long as it dispenses US Dollars. Otherwise, if you want to prepare tip envelopes, I always bring envelopes and bills in smaller denominations with me before we sail. The lines at the purser's office the day before disembarkation of people settling their bills and getting change are rather long and slow moving. Skip the lines and just bring the cash with you ahead of time! Enjoy your sailing! We were on the Christmas Cruise last year and loved seeing the ship all decoraated for the holidays. It was tremendous!
AAAAmerican Posted November 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2007 The best way for cash is usually Travelers Ckecks (Checques) Amex etc.. As getting funds for the , example, casino is attached a FEE and the ATM also.. Now a lot of Banks are cutting the Travlers Checks out as a benefit. Commerce Bank (Open Seven Days Full Services) just agreed to be acquired by the Canadian Bank Tornto .... and now does not even carry Travelers Checks.. thyey did before give them to you GRATIS. In some Ports of Call the ATMs there may have an affiliation and/or no feees depending upon yopur bank/brokerage etc.. relationships you hold..;) We are going to be on the QM2 for the December 20 sailing to the Caribbean.
