All Things Glory...

I can't believe no one replied to this question.

I also can't believe that these WONDERFUL, USEFUL, INFORMATIVE threads just drop into oblivion, yet we sure need a dozen "how does early saver work" and "woo hoo, the upgrade fairy called and I can move to a balcony cabin for only $1,000 more!" and "can I still smuggle booze" threads every freaking day!

Come on, people! These "All Things Shipname" threads are the single most useful threads on these boards!

Well, I think they are, and I'm always right. Right? :p

Seriously, if these threads were kept alive, then people would post their questions here and the responses would help the next person who is sailing the ship and has questions. Then all those "is there a ____ on Glory" Q&As would be in one, handy spot.

I just booked my 4th trip to Canada (from NY)....my first on the Glory so it's like a new cruise......
What is at the Serenity Area? Is there a hot tub/pool there? Deck chairs?
Any info is helpful (looks like this thread died before renovations....)

Its a adult only area...has some hot tubs..chairs, loungers, some hammocks and some other places to sit and hang. Very nice on the Glory, just the times we were there it was slammed, so we didnt spend so much time up there.

Hi there. New to the boards, new to cruising (2nd for me, first for him), new to Carnival. Just a quick question. We are all set to book our cruise tomorrow, but I was watching a youtube video of the OS Category Suites, and I swear it didn't look like a king size bed. Can anyone verify that the Glory suites (not the Grand Suite, just the Empress Deck Ocean Suites) have king beds?

Much appreciated. My boyfriend, the Danny of DannyMissy, is very tall, and we really do want a suite, but only if it is a King.

Thanks! This is a great thread!

Wow! Gotta love it. Those interior spaces look like someone took too many hallucinogens and then designed a cruise ship. I can't wait. :D

But can anyone explain what the deal is with all the statues of Anubis on the Glory? Anubis is the ancient Egyptian god of mummification and the underworld. That's a bit disconcerting, don'tcha think?

The Egyptian theme is the Camel Club Casino. There was a hardcover book on Glory in the cabins that explained the building and decorating of the ship.
Found this online for you about the decorating..

"Carnival's ship designer, the renowned Joe Farcus, chose "color" as the theme for Glory. Each of the public rooms has a different hue as its base, which makes the entire ship a tribute to Roy G. Biv, also known as the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet). Rooms are generally named after colors and the resulting theme is based on something each color commonly represents. It's an amusing theme that you will be reminded of consistently as you journey through the ship."
We just got back on the 17th from the east. It was great you have to do the supper club not to be misssed some of the best food I've had and the cost is well worth it.
Is caviar still offered on the supper club menu? It was several years ago when the dinner club was the Emerald Room (I think that was the name) and it was awesome, if you like that kind of thing.
We are sailing on the Glory in April - Western Caribbean - our second cruise on this ship and this itinerary.

What I love about this ship.....

- sitting on my balcony early in the morning sipping on a "foo foo" coffee from the Glory's version of Starbucks.

- sitting on the Lido deck sipping a "Kiss on the Lips".

- standing on the upper deck as we sail into a port and watching those on the smaller ships look up at us and point.

- sailing out of Port Canaveral - they definately have their act together, both embarkation and debarktion.

I could go on and on and on - but suffice it to say that I LOVE cruising in general and I LOVE cruising on the GLORY.
Ok, discounting the obvious, what exactly is a "Kiss on the Lips"?

I don't know, but I suspect that Anubis was chosen on the basis of "he looks cool". Just a guess.

Speaking of hallucinogens, when you're in the atrium in the front of the ship be sure to look up at the ceiling, which changes color. Easier on the eyes than staring at the sun.

I love this post! Cruising on the Glory on 11-14-10...so excited. only our second cruise and first on Carnival. I am so addicted to Cruise Critics...am on temp. layoff because the mall that I work at was flooded back in April so they are gutting the Macys and we won't be opening back up until May 2011....anyway, that's the reason I have lots of time to go on cruise critics!:p....Keep the Glory comments coming!!

Can anyone tell me on the 7 day Western sailing (Miami; fun day at sea; Cozumel; Belize; Roatan; Grand Cayman; fun day at sea; Miami)..what night is the Captains Dinner, the 2nd formal night and the Past Guest Party? I would like to make a reservation for the Steakhouse in advance and I would like to make it around these festivities. If anyone has this information that would be awesome. Thanks so much!!

Wish this thread was kept more up to date - anyone sailed the Eastern Caribbean itinerary since the drydock? Or has it just been doing Canada since then?

We sail Dec. 5th and can't wait! Anxious to hear how things are now.

Terry
