Nice and Naples Tours

Recommended Posts

I am seeking advice regarding planning our first private tour. Thank goodness for this wonderful site to gather so much fantastic information. We will be cruising Sept. 08 and I am starting to investigate two ports. After much research I narrowed down to using Dream Tours or Revelation Tours in Nice and Naples utilizing Benvenuto Limo.’s . My next decision is to decide the itinerary for the day. Can you please recommend what sights you saw in these ports and if any you would avoid. I have to admit this is all very new to me and I have never ever booked a private tour or been to Europe.

Thanks so much for everyone’s assistance.

We just did Naples with Aldo and he was fantastic! We did Ravello, Amalfi, Positano, and Pompeii in that order!

We are just back and did the Amalfi Coast with drive through Positano, Ravello and Sorrento and finally Pompeii. We did not stop in the towns, but drove through slowly. We made several stops along the way to take pictures. I am not sorry that we did not stop at the towns, but sometime when I am not on a cruise would like to go back to spend more time.

We had a lunch arranged for us at the top of a hill at the end of the coast.

I met many wonderful people on the message boards, we were all part of the RCI meet and mingle and made several private tours. There were 24 of us for this excursion.

We used SeeSorrento and Marco was our driver. Wonderful..........beyond words.

We did use Franco from Benvenuto Limos in Tuscany. Rained like hell, but we had a great time.

We did the same tours as Alinehu - both with Benvenuto Limos. We loved both tours and you can't go wrong with either itinerary. It would depend on whether you want to visit Pompeii or spend most of your time on the Amalfi Coast which is amazing. You have definitely chosen a great tour guide in Benvenuto. We loved our days with them and highly recommend them.

We used Isoline from Revelation Tours in Nice. Highly recommend her. She picked us up and we went to Monaco/Monte Carlo, St. Paul de Venice (liked this area better than Eze), Nice and then Eze. We were able to have time at each stop and I think it was 1 1/2 hours at St. Paul de Venice. She even recommended a great cheap crepe place there for lunch. Fellow cruisers couldn't believe everything we saw and we weren't rushed. She was great. We had great tours the rest of the cruise, but she was the best.

Last month I stayed in Nice for two weeks, and whilst I can't suggest the names of any tour guides, places to consider visiting are:

Nice itself, Flower Market, old town, Matisse Museum and Chagall Museum.

Eze - medieval walled hill town.

St. Paul de Vence - medieval walled hill town and artists's colony.

Vence - historic town.

Monaco

Grasse - centre of perfume manufacture

Coastal resorts including Villefranche, Cap Ferrat, Antibes, Juan les Pins, Cannes and Menton.

Drives along the upper, middle and lower Corniche roads.

I suggest that you do some investigation of these places via the internet and discuss your preferences with the tour guide. He may in any event be able to propose an itinery which takes in the main sites/sights.

we just returned from BOS/November 05, for those cruisng next year, Private tours will do exactly what you want so get an itinerary in mind. We booked with Shore Excursions in Nice, the driver was nice but hard to understand, port of Villafrance is quite away from Nice so if you really want to see Nice, just take the day and see Nice. We opted to "fly" around to St. Paul - loved it!, to Monte Carlo (major casino in town does charge 20E to get in) and Monaco. Gage your season, darkness fell 4:30pm, by the time we got to Eze, which is a stenuous uphill walk, too dark to see. Many places also closed for season. Party of 7 rate was 530E, 9 hours.

In Livorno we used Sunflower Tours and we loved Giovanni, he joked around and patiently waited while we extended our time in places he thought we'd only spend 20 minutes. He did what we wanted and suggested a few other places.. again darkness was a factor and we did Pisa last and almost ran out of daylight. 500E for 6 persons for 8 hours.

In Naples we loved, loved our guide raffaelei@libero.it; Raffael did again what we wanted and when my mother couldn't walk Pompeii he stayed with her and drove her around; had fresh fruit and tales of the area for 6persons/500E for 8 hours

In Athens, well, make sure to qualify whether you want a driver or a guide if you use this company because all we got was a driver.. 5 hours 6 persons 300E but he was patient, we wanted places some tourist usually don't go to. he did take us to everything we had listed!
