Hi Kathy

I am so glad to hear good things about your cruise, Now I really can't wait to go. Did the ship have a stir-fry station? They had one on the Liberty and my kids loved it. Thanks in advance!

Lynn

Sure did, I loved that place too.

The formal nights were Sunday or Monday, I forget which one but I believe it was Sunday, and Thanksgiving, which was of course is Thursday.

Yes, they had a stir fry section which we all tried and it was quite good.

Kathy

PS There seemed to be very few people at the supper club every time we walked by. Maybe we just were not there at the right time.

sadiecat, tell him not to worry about being hungry. You can order as many appetizers as you want and if you want two meals they will bring it. There is food 24/7 so there is always something to eat. The deli is open pretty much until dinner, along with other stations. We traveled with 4 men and all of them were satisfied after eating dinner, we have the 8pm seating and actually never made it to the midnight buffet. After lunch around 5 we would sometimes get a snack to hold us over until dinner, sometimes french fries or my husband always went for the sushi. Plenty to eat, I promise.

As for movies, the only one I remember was Pirates of the Carribean, The Treasure Chest or something like that. The kids rented Shrek 3 in the room. Not too recent but it is fun to watch a movie on the big screen.

FYI for all you sports fans. They do not get ESPN which was upsetting to the men in our group. They carry ESPN2 but it was in Spanish. All the news stations are from Denver which I cannot figure out. We meant to ask someone but never did. If anyone knows, let me know.

As for the boarding process, I printed up the boarding pass and never had to show them. All you needed was the sign and sail form and a passport or birth certificate and a photo ID. It was really hard to understand a lot of the workers going through customs because they do not speak English very well, so be prepared. We were at the ship by 12 ish and were eating lunch on the ship by 1:30. We were able to get in our room by 2 and our luggage came in bits and pieces but I had it all by 4. If you are taking the Carnival transfer be sure to have a copy of the transer page form your documents. We were missing a few so it took a little extra time. Otherwise, the transfer to the ship was a lot smoother than coming home.

I wish I was leaving this Saturday. Have a great time!

Hi, I was onboard last week, too. Kathy, you are doing a great job providing information! :)

Here are a couple of things I can contribute to your alreadly excellent facts:

Under the Tuscan Sun and Gladiator were also shown on the big screen TV on Lido. I also caught bits of Tina Turner and the Begees in concert.

For the person who asked about the Legends show ... there was an audition spot for Garth Brooks.

As for the red, white, and blue team thing, there was a blip that scrolled across the big screen TV one evening about the red, white, and blue teams. I was at an even numbered table for dinner, so I kind of took notice when a blurb stated that lower level even numbers in the Posh and Chic dining rooms were assigned to the white team. Odd numbers were assigned to another color, and the upper level in the both dining rooms were assigned the last color. When I asked someone about this, they said that teams visited various spots on the ship on a rotation basis for some sort of game thing. It did not interest me too much, so I did not pursue finding out any further information. They guy that did the Mowtown show also asked the audience if the ship was doing the the red, white, and blue team thing but no one seemed to know what he was talking about. His show was the night before the blurb showed up on the big screen. There might have been something in the Capers about it, but it apparently was one of those things that I just did not notice, though. Sorry that I can't provide more info other than to say that it was mentioned on the big screened TV.

One of my tablemates ate at the Supper Club the first night. He said it was excellent!

I don't recall them mentioning the red, blue, and white teams when I was on the Freedom the week of November 12. I do remember those games last year when I was on the Elation. It may be something they have done away with. Oh except one game that they played at the Seaside Theater. It was some type of movie trivia and they had the red team and blue team, but that's it.

Kathy, thanks so much for all the great info!! Is the stir fry place the chimese place on the lido deck?

Sadie, I saw that you are sailing this Saturday, December 1 on Freedom. My family and I will be on the same week with you. We are a family of four traveling with our friends that have three children. How many are in group?

vacationmamma, The stir fry place is Asian and Chinese.

As for the red, white and blue game, I now recall one. I remember seeing groups of people outside the casino and Todd, the cruise director was there and they were singing and laughing. It dedpended on where you sat in the dining room, even numbered table, odd numbered table or upstairs. They all gathered in three different places and then switched. After sitting outside the casino for a while and listening to two different groups, it was the same exact jokes. I think they announced the winner somewhere on the lido deck but I am not sure. I thought it seemed kind of obnoxious but that is just me.

I'm sure the supper club is great but as I said, maybe we just walked by at the wrong time. Maybe it fills up later when we were at dinner ourselves. I wouln't cancel any reservations.

I can try to answer any question you may have about the Freedom. Just ask.

Kathy

Kathy, could you tell me what night the Captains party was and what was the attire. Also, do they have hair driers in the rooms and if so how good are they. Thanks

D&D/RI, the Captain's party was before the first formal night so everyone was dressed up. They go around with appetizers which are really good and drinks. If you do not like the drink on the tray, they will get you what you want. It was fun. They had a band and our kids where out there dancing. We had the 8pm seating for dinner so I believe that the Captain's party was at 7.

For those who have sailed Carnival before, your sign and sail card will be gold and you will be invited to a party before the 2nd formal night. My brother was invited but did not go because he didn't want to go by himself so I can't help you with that one.

Yes they have hair driers in the room. They seem good although I brought my own. My sister and her girls used the one in the room and I did not hear them complain about them.

There is only ONE plug in the room. It is at the desk. There is no plug in the bathroom so I brought an extension cord for a clock (there are none)and a fan (I need the noise at night). The hair drier is connected to a plug in a drawer so you cannot remove it. The desk has a mirror.

Also, the showers are awesome. Really good pressure, never had a problem with the water temp. For those of you with little one's, the nozzle comes off and it is also adjustable to their size. There is a shampoo dispenser and a body wash dispenser in the shower. They give you a bar of soap and bic razors (which I heard are bad, I did not use them) and one small tube of cinnomon toothpaste (yuk).

I'm still trying to thinks of things to tell everyone, especially those first time cruisers as I wish I new a lot more when I went. If I come up with anything, I will let you know.

Kathy

PS, we always went to dinner about 10 minutes late because there is a big crowd there right at 8. Especially on the first night. Also, go to breakfast in the dining room sometimes. It is nice to get waited on for breakfast. The sea days are good for that.

Our room was on the Riviera deck so I can tell you that there was a stocked refrigerator in the room. You get charged to take things out, there was room to put things in there but I would just be sure to tell your steward if you do that.

One other thing for the ladies, the dining room was quite cold so you may want to bring some sweaters with you. I actually wore a sweatshirt sometimes when I was walking around the ship or at breakfast. I am a cold person anyway but a lost of people had sweaters on and some people just sucked it up.
