We're cruising Pearl Feb 22 & interested in beach & catamaran excursions. Any suggestions? What are the pros & cons of using NCL vs private excursions?

go by the port-of-call boards and get information about your ports. someone will have information on the local vendors...dos and don'ts.

the plus to NCL excursions, the ship will wait for you....if it's a tender port, you get off first.

We just sailed on the Pearl and in Barbados, we booked an AWESOME catamaran! We would HIGHLY reccomend Silver Moon Catamaran! It was 105.00 pp and included: pick up at the port in a comfy bus, very short bus ride to the marina, all cocktails, very friendly Captain (Ben) and first mate, swimming with the sea turtles, snorkeling over 2 ship wrecks, a great lunch, yummy dessert and more drinks!!! Very comfortable boat with only 12 of us on board. We had the best time and it was our favorite excursion this trip! We will do it again if/when we go back to Barbados. My husband was a bit sceptical but, said "you done good!" He loved it! We booked it online before we went. Check out their web site!

The pro when you book through the cruise line is that you know that the tour operator meets the safety and overall quality standards of the cruise line and in the event that your tour gets back late that the ship will not leave without you.

I second the recommendation for Silver Moon. You can't go wrong with this one. A GREAT day!!!
