Starbright7966 Posted November 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2007 I have searched for hours and hours in hopes of finding a great place to snorkel right off the shore. The problem is I found too many. And now I don't know where to go. I am looking into PLaya UVAS, Dzul Ha, Chankanaab, and Paradise Beach. I am leaning toward Playa UVAS. I am looking for: A cheap place Clean place Easy snorkeling Lots of fish SO I guess i am wondering where is the best place to see lots of colorful fish. I have been snorkeling several times and can't wait to do so in Cozumel. I hope its as good as St. Thomas. Thank you for all your help.
swampfox28 Posted November 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2007 GOOD question! I hope you (and I) get an answer SOON! There will be 4 of us there on 12/7 (though 2 will be leaving for massages with "Barefoot Sal!") and I wanted a fun place for us to hang out and play! We love to snorkel and hope to see some great stuff!! We don't drink much if at all, but want to relax and have fun. 3 of us LOVE to play in waves, but the 4th won't snorkel if the water's "too rough". We also hope to find a good place that's accessible from the shore. I'll cross my fingers that we here from some "old-timers" to Cozumel soon! -Sarah
Mark42 Posted November 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2007 We have been to both Dzul Ha as well as Chankanaab. Our family prefers Chankanaab, as it is nicer and more things to do. we are headed back again in a few weeks!!!

I don't know if Playa Uvas has ironshore. You need rocks and/or coral to attract the fish. Paradise is sandy and you won't see much there so that leaves you with Mark's Chankanaab Park and Dzul Ha. We've snorkeled both and saw lots of fish at both places. It was a trade off, I got pictures of a baracuda at CP and saw a moray eel at Dzul Ha. CP charges an entry fee but you can get a $2 coupon online. Check www.cozumelmycozumel.com and www.cozumelinsider.com. Both are chock full of info. We will be at CP next week. I'll write a review.
