MrHydro Posted November 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2007 The Aquarium is nice and right around the dock’s, Ebor city is a very short taxi ride and has great Cuban food, hand rolled cigars and interesting shopping during the day and major party time at night. Lowery park zoo and Bush Gardens are also not to far away. Hope this helps

Snook Posted November 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2007 There are three excursions offered by HAL which may be found on the web site. Depending on where you are staying, you could probably, on your on go into Ybor by Taxi or Trolley. The Trolley runs along the Channel District right by the aquarium and all of the cruise ship terminals. If you do get to Ybor, have lunch or dinner at the Columbia. They have some great meal selections. I usually opt for the Spanish Bean Soup and a Cuban. Also, after or before eating, stroll over to the Ybor Museum. Learn all about the cigar industry and its impact on Tampa and Ybor City. Burns is ok but bring along some denero! Bush Gardens is worth seeing but it takes a lot of time and plenty of walking.:)
fligster Posted November 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2007 Both the Zoo and the Aquarium are really nice, especially if you have kids. We have a 3 year old and he loves them.

LADYLAYLA Posted November 29, 2007 #9 Share Posted November 29, 2007 Hello all: Will be sailing on the Veendam ( hopefully) on Jan 13, 08 will be in Tampa the day earlier and won't be leaving Tampa for home until 6:00pm what tours are offered by the cruise ship in Tampa for passengers departing later in the day can't wait moffl We are in the same situation in FLL when we disembark on the 9th. According to HAL, you can check onboard with Shore Excursions as to what is offered and what they can set up for you upon disembarkment. If Tampa is one of the ports and your airline is one of the airlines participating, you will definately want to try to qualify for the Signature baggage handling -- that way you would not have to deal with your luggage until you get home! Have a wonderful cruise!
