les1431 Posted November 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2007 Hi All! Just read that there was a major earthquate in the Caribbean and that they were concerned about damage to St. Lucia. The Dominica board reported that it was a large shake, but everything was okay. Anyone with word on how everyone is doing on St. Lucia? Thoughts are with them! LA_FadeAway Posted December 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2007 We were on St. Lucia when the quake struck. We were in a van driving and the quake made the van swerve around a bit. We thought it was a flat tire, but then realized it wasn't, so nobody really knew what had happened until we got back into Castries and saw everyone standing outside. Everyone we talked to who were either on the ship or in town got a good shaking. Fortunately, we didn't see any damage and didn't hear any reports of serious injuries. Nonetheless, they closed down almost all business in town, including the port stores for the rest of the day. The islanders seemed pretty shaken up since quakes of that magnitude are very rare in that region. I'm glad to hear that it did not cause more widespread destruction or injuries on other islands too.
