Casinos open?

I was just wondering if the casinos on board cruise ships are open during the Alaska cruises. It seems like you would be so close to shore that it may not be allowed.

They are open once you are away from land-Canada has weird rules-so the Casino usually does not open until late in the evening if you are leaving from Vancouver. It was never open when we were in Port in Alaska.

The last 3 years when we have been on an Alaska cruise, the casino opened about 1 hour after leaving. From then on it closed about an hour prior to arrival in each port and then reopened about an hour after departure from each port. (We departed from Vancouver)
