41SWM Posted December 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2007 Finally gave in to take my son on a cruise during the holidays. What are some of the things a single dad can do on board when the kiddo is busy at the Teen Club? Thanks for your input.
cjpj Posted December 4, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2007 You can look for SWF :D ... Besides that there is lots to do. On port days you'll probably be exploring the ports and on sea days you can explore the ship. Go to a new fitness class, treat yourself to a shave or massage, go to one of the enrichment classes, sign up for the mini putt golf tournament, try your luck at bingo, drop by the dancing classes (I'm sure a SWM would have the pick of a partner), pop in to the casino, read by the pool or take some audio books loaded on to an MP3 player to listen to, I'm sure you won't have problems finding things to do or meeting people. Jayjoans Posted December 4, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2007 drop by the dancing classes (I'm sure a SWM would have the pick of a partner)Cindy yeah, a 41 yr. old SWM will have plenty of 61 yr. old SWF to choose from at the dance classes. Good luck finding a 38SWF to spend time with. The other suggestions are good though.....
SeansMommy Posted December 4, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2007 Don't be discouraged, I ran into some very nice SWF's on the 11/10 sailing. WE had a blast. Enjoy reading by the pool, us parents never get a chance to do that.
41SWM Posted December 4, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted December 4, 2007 Thanks for the ideas. I guess I was more trying to find out if everyone typically goes as a couple or if there are some individuals that go solo as well. Heck I'd love to meet up with another dad like myself. Youre right, a book by the pool sounds great, a massage even more wonderful. Not so sure about the dance, I'm pretty uncoordinated :)
CruiseLiz Posted December 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 4, 2007 There are a good number of singles on most cruises. Check out the daily activities and there should be a singles "meet & greet" Having gone on cruises with my widowed 50-something mother and my single 40-something (half) sister, I can vouch that there are lots of people who are single but go with their families. And, since you're going during holiday time, it won't just be elderly singles either. I hope you enjoy yourself & have a fantastic cruise. It will be great fun for you to do this with your son and no, I didn't mean for that to rhyme! :D
