It will vary from cruise to cruise and cruise line to cruise line and most likely by the time of the year.....but how many passengers on the average cruise are first timers ? I asked the Hotel Director on one cruise and on that particular cruise it was 80% newbies. Judging from the people at the past guest parties....

I had heard about 60% was typical. Just watch for all the red white and blue Sail and Sign cards...

Or walk the halls on Princess where they post your name and "level" on the door of your cabin. Mostly newbies.

On our last cruise, which was the Glory last Oct., there were so many past guests that they had to have the past guest party in the main show lounge....and it was almost filled. So I would say the first timers were in the vast minority on that cruise. On previous cruises, they have used one of the bar lounges for this party, indicating much fewer past guests. Therefore, it does seem to vary greatly from one cruise to the next and possibly from one ship to the next, as well. However, I am guessing that the past guests usually outnumber the newbies.

I believe on Glory and many of the larger ships the past guest party is in the main show lounge... at least it's been like that from my experience.
