New KAJO Posted December 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2007 Hi guys, We will be cruising on the Infinity end of december, beginning of january. This is a cruise around the south of America ( Chile, Falklands, Uruguay, Argentine ) When we look on the internet we see different information with regards to the weather. Can someone give us advice please : what kind of clothes is needed : summer clothes, winter clothes,... Will it be hot, warm, cold, chilly, freezing,... ? Will it be warm enough to swim ? Can we expect rain ? Any information is more than welcome ! Thanks, Kajo
Vickiville Posted December 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2007 We are doing the "layering" thing. It will be in the 90's in Santiago and Buenos Aires but Punta Arenas and the Falkland can be in the 30-40's. More info is at the roll call: Celebrity, Infinity, about half way down the page for the Dec 22 cruise. First post is by Alan and Joyce. Rare Keith1010 Posted December 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2007 I have done this cruise multiple times and yes, layering is key. Beunos Aires and Valparaiso will likely be the 80's/90's. As you cruise southward it will get much cooler and it will likely be windy so with the wind it will feel that much cooler. How much warm clothing you need depends how much time you will spend on deck and what type of tours you are doing. For our cruises for the colder weather we each brought a hat, scarf, gloves, water proof type jacket such as a North Face Jacket, fleece, sweater, water proof pants and water proof shoes. If you go on excursions that involve going on say a catamaran or say seeing the penguins in the Falkland Islands and/or Punta Arenas you will likely wear most of this clothing. So, the challenge is that you need to pack for both types of weather. I highly recommend this cruise. South America is wonderful and the scenery that you see is truly breathtaking.
