Ferry to Water Island

Has anyone taken the ferry to Honeymoon Beach on water Island? How was the beach? How was the snorkeling?

Is the deli close enough to get food and drinks?

Always intended to go there but never have. Very convenient to the Crown Bay docking area. In talking to others, I'm told the beach is very nice.

We went last year while on the Caribbean Princess and found the beach to be one of the most beautiful we have ever been to. If you would like to see pictures and a schedule, you can click on my picture link below and find the Caribbean Princess album. There are several of the beach and even one of the ferry schedule. It is a great place to spend the day in paradise. The locals set up a little bar and bbq that is very good. We plan to go in Feb for a day or R & R.

I agree with Cruzzers comments. We have been to the beach a couple of times and at most there have been only a half dozen folks there. Very uncrowded -plenty of space - the bike tour ends there and at most it adds another 12-18 people to the beach. One of the most isolated beaches we have ever been too. Tables with thatched roofs, covered building areas, rest rooms, food, beer, showers.

The only item to think about is the walk up a steep hill and down a steep hill to get to the beach and back up the same steep hill when you leave the beach. The walk from the ferry to the beach is not all that far but walking up and down the hills makes it seem far.

How long does it take to get there from Crown Bay? How often does the ferry run? Does anyone know what it costs?

Thanks!

There is a little marina right by the Crown Bay ship pier and the water taxi is right there. I think it cost $9 round trip PP. They run back and forth all day. We walked up small hill and down another one to the beach with an elderly couple and no one seemed to have a problem. It is about 1/4 Mi. We are from the hilly part of MO so those hills are nothing compared to the ones we have here.

Beach is great - dead calm, beautiful sand, good shade. When we were there only had two people stocking the bar. Bar is only open on weekends and we never did find the deli (uphill from the beach). Supposed to be a pizza boat there as well, again on weekends. Snorkeling is not that great - right side of the beach had a small sunken boat with some fish. Rocks near left side might be better.

To get to beach just walk over the hill straight ahead from the ferry dock and take second right downhill. First right is a driveway (goes to a rental place out on the point).

Best guide to Water Island can't be pasted here (maybe too much advertising), so do a search for "Water Island Beach Guide".
