ATLCanuck Posted December 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2007 O.k. folks - hold on to your hats!! I am going on a family cruise in March - booked in Oct. All of my family is from Canada. They were originally charged the fuel surcharge, then it was mysteriously credited back. My parents thought it was because of the exchange rate difference - they may have been over charged - Cdn. dollar was up to $1.10 US at one point. My brother said it was because it was considered "illegal" business practice by Cdn. Gov't to add a surcharge after the fact. I saw new confirmation for family - surcharge has definitely been credited back. I asked PVP and she said if I was living in Canada or had Canadian address, I would qualify for credit!!! Anyone want my family's Cdn. address - cheap!!! ;) JUST KIDDING!!!! mariemorgan Posted December 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Not all canadians got the credit back.. It depended on how/who you booked the cruise with. There is another thread about this somewhere.
oceanbreezer Posted December 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Do you know if they booked it through a TA here in Canada. Travel Agencies that display the TICO sign protect you from this illegal business practice. Passengers that booked through non TICO agents may be out of luck. jmcancruise Posted December 13, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Saw our TA last week and were told that the charge would be removed from our bill. We are from NB and assume our TA would be associated as it is a very reputable company.

ATLCanuck Posted December 13, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted December 13, 2007 We all booked directly through a PVP at Carnival. Everyone is a past cruiser. The families in question live in Alberta & British Columbia. Not sure exactly what qualified them for this credit - but we'll take it!:D Sorry, did not realize there was another thread - I'll check that out...thx.
