Can you upgrade to a suite once your onboard?

Was wondering if once your onboard a Carnival ship would they allow you to upgrade to a suite? Would they give you discount off the regular rate? Just curious....

On every Carnival cruise in recent memory, the "No Upgrades Available" sign was posted at the Purser's Desk.

I don't think that there is a straight answer for this. Many many things enter into the mix. Those things include:

*how many suites are available

*how the person doing the upgrading was instructed for this particular cruise

Upgrading at the dock has been done - but not by me. If I want an upgrade, I generally tell my TA. Sometimes he is able to get me something for cheap or free - but that depends on a lot of other things. We have purchased about 20 cruises through this agent.

Most cruises are full these days... From what I understand, if there ARE any suites available, they will upgrade from Guarantees into those... but who knows, give it a shot...

Sure you can - IF there's a suite available, and if you're willing to pay the difference. On my last few cruises, there's been a sign at the purser's desk - "No cabins available". You can always ask.
