Fort in Acapulco

Taking the BIL and SIL on this trip and they absolutely want to see the cliff divers - but would also like to see the fort across from the cruise terminal. The excursion for the City Tour and Divers through Carnival leaves at 1:30 and returns after the fort closes - can we truly "see" it in about and hour?

If the Fort is closed you can only view the exterior walls and turrets, some cannons. A fort is a fort, IMO. The interest is really in the interior. Though, the Fort is across the street from where your ship will be berthed and it's an easy walk (there's a special pedestrian bridge connecting the Fort with the terminal building).

Is there a reason you can't see the Fort on its own, before the ship's city excursion? You can see the contents and appreciate the museum and what's there in an hour, if that's all the time you have.
