Helsinki Lutheran Cathedral info please

From pictures I've seen, it looks to be a large amount of steps up to the Lutheran Cathedral. Does anyone know if there is an alternative way of entering the Cathedral? My husband just wouldn't be able to climb all those stairs!!

 

Also, I have heard there are places to eat and some art displays in the basement/cellar? Does anyone have information about that? Is there an elevator? or stairs again?

 

Any other information that you want to share about Helsinki?

Yes there is alternative access - you walk around the left side as you look from the square.
