1fineday Posted December 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2007 Suggestions regarding how to spend the early evening hours on Coz? We are on Century which will leave at 8pm and I/m wondering whats "worth doing" from the time the light begins to fade until thetime we must reboard- or is it best to just spend the eve on the ship? There are 3 of us, all female, ages 18, 22, and , ah, well, lets say over 30 :) ;)
bruce-r Posted December 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2007 Mini Golf stays open after 5:00 PM and is worth a visit. Also, there are quite a few worthwhile restaurants worth a visit. I'd try La Choza if you interested in Yucatecan style Mexican food.
FishermanJim Posted December 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2007 A new program designated “Cozumel at Night” will initiate on Fridays and Saturdays in December starting about 6 pm with activities that should attract tourists and citizens of the community. Partial closing of the new sidewalks to allow restaurants to place tables in the public areas so you can enjoy the roving artistic and musical activities that will surely liven up El Centro's atmosphere. The program idea includes folkloric dance, painters, mariachis, marimba players and other indigenous activities.

FishermanJim Posted December 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 23, 2007 Well, yes, Cozumel is safe. It is always prudent to be cognizant of your surroundings. Cozumel has grown by leaps in the past couple of years and some neighborhoods just don't need to be visited by strangers at night. Stick to the tourist zone at night because it's heavily protected and there are always people around. We have some little street gangs that like to rob cell phones and any cash in individual might have when they catch them in outlying neighborhoods and I don't consider any neighborhoods exempt from this delinquency. Nobody gets hurt generally; it's petty theft but an unnerving experience all the same.
