Just back from Conquest 16-23 Dec

Hello all, my family and I just returned from the Conquest (16-23 Dec). I should mention that we were initially on the 9 Dec sailing, but when I found out there would be fog and TS delays, I rescheduled! Boy do I feel lucky! I don't want to ramble, so I'll just hit some quick observations and answer any Qs if you have them.

This was my 7th cruise with Carnival, 1st on the Conquest....

Embarkation -

Arrived at the terminal at 1200, parked at Lighthouse Parking and was on board the ship by 1:45pm. We headed up to the lido deck for some food and drinks and then at 2:00 went down to our rooms (UPPER 6438, 6436).

Regarding those rooms... DO NOT BOOK if you are an early-to-bed or light sleeper! They sit right above the Degas lounge where they play live music every night until 12:30am. It was noisy and sometimes annoying, but not too big of a deal - although, I would not book them again.

Itenerary-

First two days at sea were a little chilly. The temps weren't bad - 60's/low 70's, but it was very windy up on the open decks. Plenty of activities around the ship though, to keep everyone busy.

Jamaica/Grand Cayman/Cozumel-

Weather was just about perfect in all 3 ports- 80's and plenty of sun. We took a cab to a beach in Jamaica (AquaSol) and spent just a couple of hours there. Not the greatest beach, but I don't know of too many great beaches around MoBay and we had excursions planned for the other ports anyway. In Grand Cayman, we did the Stingray City tour - lots of fun! In Cozumel, we did an AI day pass with the Wyndam Resort & Spa. It was reasonably priced, but it does not have the best beach. We had a lot of fun here as well.

Ship -

Conquest seems to be in great shape! Seemed easy enough to find our way around. The food was excellent - we never missed a meal!

Debarkation-

AWESOME!!! The first "self-assist" call was made this morning at 7:20 and we were off the ship and heading home by 8:10! This was the easiest and quickest debarkation I've had in 7 sailings! I did cheat though...just a little:)

Anyway, just a quick review! Overall, my family and I loved this cruise, just as we have loved all the others in the past! I really do feel fortunate to have missed the 9 Dec sailing! Sorry for all those passengers who sailed then. Let me know if you have an questions.

We won't be on the Conquest until Sept... But, I'm reading everything and anything... we booked guaranteed so I don't know what cabin we'll have -- I guess if it's those -- I'll change my sleeping habits! Who wants to sleep on vacation anyway. Too much to see and do...

Did you happen to see any inside cabins??? all we could get was a 4a guarantee... maybe we will be moved up a little.:)

My son and his friend were in a 4b cabin in January on the Conquest. I've only sailing Fantasy and Conquest class ships. So, with those references -- the IS Conquest are about the same size as a standard Fantasy class OV room. Plenty of room for two people - but not as big as the OV or BL.

NoelM Thanks for your post...planning to travel on Conquest with 2 kids age 7 and 9. We are currently booked on upper deck inside cabins (adjoining) 6295 and 6297. I believe they are right over the casino if I am reading my deck plans right. I had my worries about noise from below for the kids...you said your upper deck rooms were noisy. Can you really hear the deck below? I am thinking we should reconsider our room choice. I can't afford 1 balcony room let alone adjoining balcony rooms so this was our best alternative when initailly choosing our rooms. Input? Thoughts?

Thanks!
