Belize and rain

So, I see by weather.com that rain is in the forecast for Belize.

 

Does that mean rain like in the northern part of the US...pretty much gray and rainy all day?

 

or

 

Is it more like South Florida where you have sunshine then suddenly it rains for 25 minutes and the sun comes back?

 

Just trying to plan. I'm beginning to think the person with whom I have been corresponding about an excursion next Thursday may be letting me down and am trying to formulate a last minute back-up plan...and the way the weather behaves down thataway would figure into that.

It's not the rainy season there now.

On a week & a half trip there in Janaury, the only rain we saw was a solid hour of hard rain, while we were in the rain forest. Then it stopped and the sun came back out. Never rained on the coast.
