senunit Posted January 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Hi CC once again! I am going to cruise on the AOS in less than a week. We are hoping to call home from there to NYC in the U.S. Unfortunately, we dont intend to use our phones as the prices will most likely be sky high. Is there an alternate option to call that is confirmed and cheaper on the ship? Or maybe it makes some sense for the people from home to call our stateroom via a calling card? Im just looking for the best possible option either on our end in the ship or on our relatives' end from home. Any suggestions would go a long way. Thanks!:)

Thanks!:) $7.95 per minute to call home from the ship using their phones. I have Verizon for my cell phones and it was $2.50 per minute to call home using that outside the US and Puerto Rico. I called Verizon and they put me on international calling so that when I left Puerto Rico, (still US and free) my phones would automatically roam. It is definitely cheaper to use the cell phones than calling from the ships phones. It will cost as much for people to call you, $7.95 and they can only call you for emergencies by using certain credit cards. That emergency number will be in your documents. There is also email at .50 per minute to use their computers. You can bring your own and get hook up in the cabin for a set price.
sadie8 Posted January 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2008 We have t-mobile and called their customer care number before cruising to get our international rates. Our calls were free from Puerto Rico and St. Thomas and the minute rates were very reasonable on the other ports. We did not have cell service at sea. The cheapest rate for us was definitely with our cell phones.
